You might have seen this news leaked on other sites recently, but the official embargo has only just lifted and it was one we wanted to respect, as Sega’s partnership with PlatinumGames Inc is a great moment in videogaming and one worth savouring a little.

If you’re a fan of Japanese developers, you’ll be wanting to keep an eye on what PlatinumGames have got lined up for you next year, including titles for Wii and DS, but naturally we’re focusing on Bayonetta, which is due for release in 2009 on both PS3 and Xbox 360. In what Sega are calling a game of 100% pure, unadulterated all-out action, Bayonetta, directed by Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya, pushes the limits of the action genre. Kamiya was also responsible for Viewtiful Joe and Resident Evil 2.

A witch with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, Bayonetta, must face off against countless angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions. Outlandish finishing moves are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows from one fight to another. With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat.
