We’ve been writing about The Last Guy ever since the first teaser trailer, keeping one eye on the quirky Japanese title as it became more and more obvious what it was about. Whilst the Japanese got their hands on the game yesterday (for only 500 Yen!) we’ve not heard anything about a Western release until today.
Not only have SCEE added a trailer to today’s PSN Update, but the US Blog has posted a story on it too.
You really should head over there and read more about the game, but for the lazy here’s a quick rundown of the basic game mechanics: “The Last Guy is a fast-paced and addictive classic arcade style game with simple controls. The game uses real-life aerial maps of various cities around the world, including Tokyo, London and Los Angeles. As the player, you are the last remaining hope in each of these cities to rescue mankind from the zombies roaming the streets. As you navigate the city, you gather survivors hidden throughout buildings and other nooks and crannies in the city. Once rescued, the nervous survivors will form a line behind you. The objective is to lead them back to the Escape Zone so the United Rescue Force can pick them up and whisk them off to safety.”
The game is ‘weeks’ away, so we’ll keep an eye out for any updates in the meantime.

sounds a bit like that duck game on PSN, looks like the opening credits from Eastenders.
At least it’s not a two-stick shooter or an FPS though, it shouldn’t get Kamiboy’s blood pressure up any more than it already is!

Nah, it’s a cute idea. The ace presentation (with all the adverts etc) is great too. Kamiboy’s safe anyway, it’s Japanese.

It looks to me like this should be a simple flash game and nothing more. What are the chances it hits the PSN for £4-5 though? Why development time and money is even being wasted on something like this is beyond me.
