According to a post on the official PS forums, the ability to create online with friends won’t be ‘out of the box’ in LittleBigPlanet. You’ll still be able to create full levels with local (ie: real) friends, but your online buddies will be locked out of Create mode until your level is done – we’ll have to wait for the “first major update” for that functionality.
This isn’t too bad news, though, so we’ll be having no tears here please, it’s Sunday.

Possibly gives them more time to work on it and saves the game being delayed or makes it so there’s more chance for them to improve their content filtering system or for more content to be made available, as there won’t be anything on day 1

Oh well, creating levels online would be a bit of a pain anyway if you’re stuck with a bunch of idiots; Picture this – You have had the best idea ever and you start creating your masterpiece. Just as you finish some prat deletes it all.
Anyways, i doubt the update will cost – look how much burnout gave away for free

Isn’t that what LPB is all about though? Creating stuff online?
Thats like an FPS being sold, only to find out the weapons will be DLC some time after the game comes out….

No, creating stuff and uploading them online, not specifically creating things with other people.
It’s also about playing the levels.

“Sam_Protagonist
When online multiplayer creating is introduced it will be free to all. ”

Here’s the quick FAQ you’ll doubtless see around various places today…
Is online create in the game from launch?
No it’s not, however it will be included in the first game update after launch. We’re working on making this available as quickly as possible, but want to make sure it’s right before releasing it.
What does online create actually mean?
Online create, quite simply, is the ability to use the create side of the game in a multiplayer fashion.
So I can still share my levels?
Absolutely. All of the sharing features of the game are up and running.
And I can still play multiplayer?
Yes. Online multiplayer for playing the game is as you’d expect.
And I can still create levels with my friends offline?
Totally. Up to 4 players can work together on a single Playstation 3 to create levels. Also, you can still work collaboratively with friends to build levels by exchanging them through the share portion of the game.
There ya go… some more information for free
I eventually got round to registering so I can post

just to add to how much I rule I’ll point out that you can in LBP you can do this…
“But have any of you realized / noticed that you can use for each local / off-line player another (local on that PS3) account and rank up the points, collect Trophies etc. each on your own account? After joining with additional controller / player you can simply go to Start / Manage players and select which (local) account will be used by that particular player.”

kudos goes to CAVEMAN on that as he can get to the Pop up store…
So no more Warhawk style useraccount[1] etc (well in LBP anyhow – but still the same in warhawk – perhaps one day they will patch that in… – remember you heard it here first
)

more interesting stuff
“The biggest level, which is possible is only !!!! 5 MB !!!! So yes the levels will be very small”
So a full thermometer level will only be 5 meg… only 25 minutes on dial up
http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=b_EN_GAMES_general_lbp&message.id=6628&jump=true
credits on that snippet to ‘hostes’ from the Sony World Day in Austria
But I think thats the first mention of the largest file size.. so even those with 20gig PS3’s will be able to hold LOADS OF LEVELS!

I don’t see this as being a major blow to the game at all. Creating a level online wasn’t even something I was aware you could do. I don’t play well with others when it comes to creating things so don’t see it as being an issue anyway.
I don’t see it as being an issue of an idiot deleting your creation unless your in the habit of adding idiots to your friends list. It will be more of a creative difference issue that I can see coming up. And if your friend has their own Yoko Ono sitting in the background then that could be VERY frustrating!
No one will like a backseat LovelyBigPlopper!
