Rewards For Trophies

Mon, Oct 20, 2008 at 9:50 pm

Rumours

So you’ve got the game, you’ve spent hours playing it, and you’ve got all the Trophies including that elusive platinum, what do you do next?

Well C&VG are saying that the US Official Playstation Magazine reports that a reward system for Trophy hunters is being looked in to.

“We’ve heard that SCEA is mulling over some sort of Trophy reward system,” it says in the latest issue of OPM.

“We doubt it’ll be cash (or the equivalent), but we suspect it might be exclusive access to early betas and the like,” the magazine speculates.

So in the future you could do a random task in a game, to unlock an in-game award, which gets you a Trophy, which in turn gets you a reward, and I thought gaming was about fun!

Yay rewards for trophies. The acknowledgement of my achievements in game was enough but rewards give extra incentive. If this is what SCEA is really doing then I’m going to have to get that Platinum trophy in Uncharted…even if it does mean me doing it on Hard and Crushing…

Its not that bad! My advice would be do it in two or so stints, rather than an hour here or there, use cover wisely, always go for headshots.

Doesn’t really apply to me either. In fact I think this is a terrible idea, all the betas will go to borderline autistic kids with more spare time than outside time…

well yes but it makes the process too much like hard work, it’s supposed to be fun.

Meh, I suppose an incentive is an incentive. I don’t really need one as I looove collecting trophies. Sure, I’m not a 100% completist, but I’ll try to get as many trophies as possible.

Home is free. Trophies are free. Simple economics means someone’s wants/needs a profit eventually. Otherwise, what’s the point?

I think they should use gamerscore, but give it some purpose. E.g. for each trophy you get, you recieve a certain amount of points, Bronze being the least and platinum being the most - These points could be used to buy objects in home rather than buying them with real money, or perhaps for minor items on the store, such as premium themes.
