Just to brighten up your day, let you know it’s not just us PS3 owners that get delays and generally revel in other’s misfortune I would like to draw your attention to this article from Forbes.

It seems a key interactive feature in Microsoft’s new NXE will miss launch by around 6 months. The quiz-show section of their Home clone will not be ready and will instead launch around the same time as the American TV season changes to its Spring lineup which, apparently will make it harder to sell. Except it won’t because if it does what they say it will do it’ll be awesome. Still, it’ll be late.

  1. Eh? I have a 360 and knew nothing about this feature! So the delay doesn’t really matter to me, it’s like it’s just been announced and that the date is Spring! ;o)

God I hope Home comes soon though!

    • and that, my friend, is why people think Sony delay everything but Microsoft don’t

      • Maybe Sony should take a lesson from this then and keep quiet about their projects until they’re complete enough for them to give an accurate release date on the first attempt! ;o)

If you look at the announcements from Microsoft, probably 90% are always within four weeks of the release date.

  2. Why does everyone insist on calling NXE a Home clone? It has no virtual world like home does, it is mainly a new look and new social features…. Oh and some Mii-esque avatars.

    • Because it seems like something microsoft cobbled together when they heard Sony would be releasing Home. I know it’s not identical, that would breach copyright, but it is intended for the same approximate purpose.

    • Because it’s an avatar based addition to the standard machine OS

It may have no virtual world, but you can practically do everything with it Home can do, just without waiting for an application to start up (and obviously for it to be released

Home may be amazing, leaked reports from people who have broken the NDA say it’s pretty far from amazing.

My personal opinion is: Home is like using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut; however saying that, I’ll see you in there

  3. aww man thats great!! its been a good day for playstation, with the inclusion of this news from as well, things dont seem as bad as they were yesterday..

    PSU.com

    hope that link worked!!

    • Unfortunately though that’s just some more good news from the consumers to Sony. It’d be nice to have some flowing back the other way for once.

Motorstorm 2 being brought forward a week is the best news from Sony in months!

      • Exactly what I was thinking. We need good news that benefits US!

      • Well, LBP was also brought forward a week :P
        Don’t count on it.

  4. Is NXE getting all the hype Home is getting? Simple, No because it’s not original and they copied Sony the m$ retards…

  5. i reckon delays just follow me around!
i sold my ps3 this past week to get a 360 because i was getting sick of all the delays and now suddenly a 360 delay.

dont worry people, now i’ve jumped off the ps3 ship as it were you will probably have an easier ride now :P

  6. I don’t really give a monkeys if the NXE only ends up being released with a nice screen saying “NXE”.

Not being an Xbox owner it does not concern me. I take no pleasure in it and if anything it annoys me.

I want all the companies offering the good services they promised for what are expensive products. I want them to work bloody hard for my money which is why until recently I’ve always been highly critical of SCEE.

So please, leave the Xbox fan baiting to other sites. Lets keep focused on what we care about, getting the best from our system and the company that supplied it.

    • You will only get the best from your system if it has a profitable-sized install base which will only come about if the product itself appeals to a mass of people accross a range of demographics. Recent delays and perceived errors of judgement from Sony don’t help their image in the eyes of the public and this certainly doesn’t help them to shift units. If the Xbox is seen to suffer similar delays (and it certainly does) it might level that playing field a little.

There is no benifit in one system massively outselling the other, the benifit comes from a healthy (for the consumer) competition. That competition has been pretty one-sided so far this generation although in my opinion it has leveled out a little in the second half of this year (trade show announcements notwithstanding). Unfortunately with the Xbox even outselling the PS3 in Japan last month this would seem to be a critical time for Sony and without rolling up their sleeves and maybe throwing a punch or two back in Microsoft’s direction they will almost certainly lose an even larger proportion of their formerly loyal user-base than they already have. I think that would be a terrible shame, not for this generation where Sony at least have a strong product to push but for the next when Microsoft may already be so far ahead that there would be no point in Sony showing up.

  7. Talking about delays…
