In what can only be described as non-news, Demo PS3 units have seen an update this morning to Firmware 2.51. We don’t know what the update does, probably very little, and even whether it’ll roll out to retail units at some point, but we thought you might like to know.
If we find out what the update does, we’ll let you know.

That’s my guess.

The video issues should really be addressed. But why only the Demo units?

I’ve been talking with someone about this in the UK Playstation forums, and he thinks that Home would come with the next update.. (possibly this is it?)
I am sceptical. I think I’m going to wait until Dec 31st before I get my hopes up…
Or perhaps it could be a bug fix to stop the Playstation freezing when I try and exit the web browser? anyone else noticed this?

I haven’t had theat problem, but I have had issue connecting to the internet with HVB and Super Sonic Battle cars. So hopefully this helps out.

Perhaps Europe will get the opportunity to experience this when HVB gets patched here and SSBC is released!

It’s not a mandatory update so it can’t be anything spectacular. Probably “improves compatibility” or something.

Hooray!
Even for such minor updates I always naively hope they will final fix Final Fantasy VIII (PAL).

I have been on the phone to Sony ever since 2.50 caused my PS3 to constantly freeze when swapping between accounts or exiting the store…They said that 2.51 was coming and would address this issue.. This news makes me happy, its been driving me crazy with the freezing (and worrying me into an early grave as well!)

I managed to mess up my PSN ID in terms of connecting to the Trophy database (long story, let’s just say, dont create a US account and use your existing email address with it and then switch back to the original).
Though I doubt 2.51 will fix my issue (Sony Support are looking into my account on their servers to see where the problem is) I welcome any opportunity to try something new to fix it and then become dejected again when I *still* can’t earn any new trophies.
