You might have read recently that Media Molecule were planning to enabling JPG image importing into LittleBigPlanet by Christmas. Well, that’s apparently not the case: Sam_Protagonist, an LBP Community Manager on the official forums has said that whilst image importing is “technically viable” there are “currently no plans to introduce it” citing various reasons, although not going into any depth.
Currently, the only method of importing your own textures and images is via the PlayStation Eye, currently about £75 with a free game called Eye of Judgement that you’ll never, ever play.

You can get the PS3Eye on its own for £27.99 at Game. I can get it for £20.99 cause I work there and get discount

But it is with the Eye of Judgment, just like it says in the article.

That’s not entirely true. You can buy the Eye on it’s own for about £25. Here for example: http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/3512043/Sony-PlayStation-Eye-Camera-+-EyeCreate/Product.html

Around 25 quid for the Eye on it’s own, there will be 6 games from the creators of Buzz coming out next year, and hopefully the interesting looking EyePet soon after.
Back to the article, I would have thought importing jpegs would lead to to moderating issues for copyright and obviously porn

Fingers crossed those filthy minded enough don’t use the Eye to take pics of their own bits!

Guys,
we were at GameCity 3 in Nottingham. This was said by Alex Evans during his presentation to about 400 people. He confirmed about 3 times that image import will be available by Christmas.
He stated that the only reason that it was not in at release was time constraints.
So, who is right?

If the camera is £25, the game isn’t worth £50.

Eye of Judgment is only about £40 pretty much anywhere you look. I think Nofi deserves a bigger horse-whipping than cc_star got for his Naruto cock up!

oooh what a fuss over; a little over-enthusiasm and three little letters… PSN.
JPEG importing to 90% of people will mean p0rn, think of all the moderating… I would rather them spend time on creating DLC and ironing out any remaining issues

I was only kidding – as a fellow Blues fan I couldn’t let them horse-whip you!

I paid £75. I don’t care how much it costs now.

ironic, iconic, sardonic, um… alcoholic!
I was stretching a bit towards the end there but I think it almost works.

I used to love the Eyetoy on PS2, had some great party games available for it that always used to get dragged out after returning from a night out.
I got the PSEye a while ago with the rather pony game Eye of Judgement and it really is pretty disapointing. There just isn’t the software available for it, there’s a few rather poor PSN games and it does automatically record clips of the missus putting in a performance on Singstar occasionally, but where’s the party games that made the original so great?
Worse still, the old PS2 discs aren’t compatible with the new camera either -duh!

Cool, cheers!
Not too sure about the EyePet thing though, being over the age of six.
