GT 5 At 3840 x 2160

Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 7:36 am

News

Over on the official Gran Turismo website, news has surfaced of an amazing new experiment involving 4 PS3s and a few copies of GT 5.  In amongst other next-generation trials was a method of using the four consoles to each display a quarter of the final screen each, then syncing them together on a new Sony cinema projector, the SRX-S1110, which can display a resolution of over 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Apparently the crowd was “simply amazed by the clarity of the image displayed on the massive 220 inch screen, and the players who participated in the time trial expressed their excitement of how perfectly in focus the screen is even close up, and at the quality of Gran Turismo.”  I bet no-one asked when the damned thing would be coming to the PSP, though.

    equalsP Says:

Isn’t it just saying that each image has 60FPS, so then the large image is 4X(60FPS) ? Cuz that’s faulty logic if I’m understanding it. Its like saying that your PS3 plays things at a 240FPS, its true if you cut the picture into 4 sections and each section is 60FPS.

Sure there might be 240 frames displayed a second, but its still outputs 60FPS

So will the PS4 just be 4 PS3s glued together? Or would that be a PS12? Or PS7?

    Jas-n Says:

    Hopefully this won’t involve using LBP’s glue :P .

Also, I’d quite like a quadHD projector, anyone fancy giving me that for Christmas.
Either that or a QuadHD TV, those are less expensive, and will fit in my bedroom.

Amazing! Yeah shame we’ll never see it, but its nice to see the PS3 can do something special!

I wonder when we’ll start getting every game at 1080p?

    colossalblue Says:

CoD5 is 1080p all the way and it’s more complex than anything else I’ve seen at 1080p so it’s looking one step closer.

    montage Says:

CoD5 - as in World at War?

The base resolution on that is 1024×600, upscaled to 720p - on both PS3 and 360 - then if your TV supports it, it seems to hock it up to 1080p.

If you’re talking about another game called CoD5, my apologies.

WoW isn’t even that complex or attractive a game - this coming from someone who loves it!
