We’ve had Party Mode, the Ultimate Box, the Car Pack, Toy Cars and the Hotrod, and now it’s time for the final piece of Burnout Paradise news that’ll be making the line-up early next year: Big Surf Island.
That massive tower in the screenshot? You can drift all the way up it (and back down). There’s a massive bridge to the island with multiple routes. There’s a construction yard on the island with climbable scaffolding, massive concrete hoops and ramps to die for. However, despite suggesting the island would be free downloadable content, Criterion have confirmed to us that it’s paid for.
“Big Surf is the culmination of everything we learned creating Paradise City, and we want it to bring you a truly spectacular new experience – the highlight of a year of incredible premium content,” says the official site. “Burnout already delivers incredible value for money – literally hundreds of hours of gameplay with your original disk or PSN purchase, plus more with the free Cagney Pack and free Burnout Paradise Bikes.”
Stay tuned to TSA for all your Burnout Paradise news.

Looks like l’ll enjoy crashing into all those hoops over and over again. And as long as they don’t got overboard with the price, i’m happy to support them. I guess by the time it comes out we’ll be bartering in slices of bread as these cold, dark times progress…

Oh I so want this!

Criterion Games sure deserves a Christmas-present! Ok, Big Island will cost some money, but the price for Paradise City is low and all extra content has been free. And the game is great and pure fun. One of the best games for PS3 IMHO.
We should all sign a big Christmas-card and send it to them!

They really did well with Paradise. I’ve not found anyone who bought it and regrets it. The lastability is one of its strongest features, supported by amazing updates, and the bikes pack, while not as good as I hoped, is still way better than most DLC that you’d pay for. I’m not sure which of the premium updates I’ll get but this one is a definate.

I played Paradise for the first time on Saturday night after downloading it on PSN. I can’t believe I haven’t already though, its amazing! Although when people said the trophies were easy, I didn’t expect them to be as easy as they were. I’ve only been on it a day and I have 4 left I think.
Anyway, I’ll be buying this
It’s nice for me to have an update so soon after buying it.

If you were to buy this game next year would it come with ALL the updates or just the free ones and maybe the paid ones for a higher priced full game?
I haven’t got it yet but will do. Want to know if it matters if I get it for Chrimbo.

They mention an Ultimate Box at the bottom of this http://www.criteriongames.com/packs/party.php. Which means it’s unlikely that the island will come for “free” on disk too.

this game is so much fun, don’t mind paying for a bit of dlc - will be worth it! thanks criterion

Call me a retard but… actually don’t that would be mean. But which downloads are available now and which ones are coming 2009. Which ones do we have to pay for and which ones are free. A simple list will do. Thank you!

I’m confused here, isn’t it supposed to be bought, not brought? I keep seeing people type brought, but why? That’s a form of bring, isn’t it?

Yes, technically it is but it’s a common dialectical mispronunciation around the East Midlands of England where CC (and me too!) is from and where you will be doing your exchange study thingy so maybe you should get used to it!
@CC I got Burnout a couple of weeks ago, it’s brilliant. Just brilliant, I wish I’d got it ages ago.

Never really thought about it, always said brought, and have never used the word bought in my life
I suppose your right Mr. Pederson, it must be down to the East Midlands way of saying things like Cb says
December 5th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Yesss!! Much more hours of hi-octane fun!!!
Bring it on!!! (That’s why “brought” is used instead of “bought” …never mind, that’s not why!!)
