You might have heard rumours floating around recently that Gran Turismo 5 is on course for a Christmas 2009 release, and whilst this may well be the case, there’s certainly nothing confirmed by Sony yet, so don’t go cancelling that week in Majorca for next December. “Polyphony are working on GT5,” SCEE told us, “but we cannot confirm a launch date at this point in time.”

I’ve lost interest, I don’t play prologue any more. Burnout is so much more fun.
Maybe by the time this eventually does get released I’ll want it again.

I’ve always been more of a Burnout fan than GT. Ever since point of impact i’ve been hooked on Burnout.

Yeah I’m the same and I’ve lost interest in psp GT4 too. Releasing info and demos years in advance is all well and good but there must be thousands of people who don’t anymore care because the excitement hangs around for a few months then just goes! Though it frustrates people at least the dates-then-delays gave us lights at the end of tunnels to gaze at.

A-Spec was the pinnacle of this series in my opinion. Although the first was awsome at the time of release. Unfortunately I have also lost interest and at the mo couldn’t give a rats ass when it’s released.

Can’t wait.. this will be the ultimate driving game.

I will get this when released. I like the mix and match between arcade and sim racing. I have had a lot of arcade racers as of late, so I am looking forward to a good sim one now. Hopefully they get the damage working.

I believe GT is the only really great driving sim so am really looking forward to this. It’s a long wait though

I agree too. Although Forza Motorsport 2 is kind of cool, GT beats it down through the boots.

The problem is that it wasn’t a rumor, it was officially said by James Armstrong (Sony’s chief executive in Southern Europe) on the famous economics spanish newspaper El Financiero: http://www.elfinanciero.com.mx/ElFinanciero/Portal/cfpages/contentmgr.cfm?docId=158807&docTipo=1&orderby=docid&sortby=ASC
By the way, hello to everybody. Being reading you since a few months, from Spain, but did the register today in order to post this and make it clear.

There only isn’t a release date because it’ll by delayed.
Here’s a plan Sony, Set a ‘release date’ for later than expected, then everyone will be amazed when it gets released early, or on the release date

…or only a week or two after it.

Hopefully this will come out within the next year. GT5 in 2010 anyone?

Are Polyphony extracting the urine out of us?! How long do they need to put it together. I’m so bored of waiting for this game and Prologue was a massive disappointment. I’ve been playing Forza2 on the X-Box and it’s amazing compared to Prologue. GT5 will have to be a 1000% improvement on Prologue just to match Forza2. By the time GT5 is released Forza3 will be out!

I loved the first installment of gran turismo especially watching my subaru legacy tearing it up at night in the replays, continued to enjoy GT2 & 3 since then the magic wore off. I don’t even think the amazing graphics in gt5 will help. It’ll be a case of “been there done that” got all the licences on 4 other occasions!. Burnout these days is really appealing, kick ass in fact, makes you just want to pick up and play, whereas gt prologue with it’s casual elevator music & it’s million dollar man appeal tends to put me off these days.
I might be wrong…gt5 might have some cranked up tunes like before ,rage against the machines & manic street preachers, oh & Overseer, to get you in the mood & The experience of speed might feel like the real thing! But with the quality of burnout these days i might end up picking the new burnout over gt5
P.s Can any 1 remember the discs made to smell like burnt rubber or am i just dreaming this up? Think it was gt2

I like that “casual elevator music & it’s million dollar man appeal” on GT5 Prologue. In fact it’s a quite beautiful & serious Prologue game just for 29′90€. The problem is that we just have a Prologue and not a full racing game.
And yes, one of the two discs of GRAN TURISMO 2 was special (at least on my PAL edition). The blue one (DISC #2) did smell to oil or something like that. The special point is that if you used to play many hours non-stop, when you extracted the disc from your Playstation system, the smell was then more intense with the heat of the disc, givin you a nice easter egg or something. Unfortunately, after months of playin’ until complete the whole % of the game, my list at least stopped to smell as the 1st day.

I got GT A:Spec with my PS2, loved it and played it for ages trying to shave hundredths of a second off my P.B.
I then discovered Burnout and never went back
