We’ve known it was coming for a while, but (presumably) in order to shift a few copies of a print magazine, Game Informer has the official exclusive on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The magazine (which is a US one) features 10 pages of world-exclusive details, apparently, and says that “Nathan Drake returns with a whole new adventure which revolves around the 13th century explorer Marco Polo and his voyages”.
Naturally, this is exclusive to PS3 too, and the title will add a “free climbing mechanic and stealth gameplay”. Look out for all-new locations (as you can see from the teaser), new characters and a focus on the game’s story. The magazine also has a scoop on Guitar Hero: Metallica if that’s your thing. Here’s the teaser:
We’ll get all the info as soon as we can, but as fredrikpedersen says in our comments below, Nathan’s clearly looking for the Phurba, a three-sided peg, stake or nail like ritual implement traditionally associated with Tibetan Buddhism or Bön, routing the teaser at least to somewhere like Nepal. Interesting stuff.

The graphics of Uncharted 1 blew me away – hopefully they can pull off the jaw dropping graphics again. The thing that won it for me was the lush tropical environments and its realism. Hopefully it isn’t too bland and snowy for the majority of the game in Uncharted 2 (oh wow, another snow capped mountain…)
I do like that they are trying something different and taking a risk by changing the environment and mixing it up with the game play style.
Naughty Dog and Criterion games are probably my two favorite developers at the moment.
BTW the story in Uncharted 1 was freakin’ awesome – the ending scenes caught me by surprise. The game was leading up to something sinister but I didn’t expect anything like that!

Seriously no excuse not to have it. (no thumbs!?! oh sorry…) it is cheap as anything now, it is awesome and still one of the best games around imho.

The main page image looks like that scene from Wanted with James McAvoy hanging from the train and Angelina Jolie sadly still clothed.
I bought the original Uncharted months ago but only played the first level before other games made me forget about it. I feel suitably ashamed and will now return to it in an effort to see just what all the fuss is about.

Great news I loved the first one. I played thru it once before the trophies and when the trophies were released I played thru it 3 more times. I enjoyed every minute of it. Even those time I nearly thru my controller acrossed the room while playing crushing. Can not wait. My list of PS3 games for 09 is already starting to grow.

I simply cant wait for this, any1 got a rough date for release apart from “next year”. 1 game was really tickling my balls in anticipation and that was Final Fantasy XIII but now theres this 2.
My balls are so lucky.

Can’t wait for this game!Uncharted is easily one of my top 10 games of all time. But like someone else said,i’ve seen enough botched, nailed on attempts at stealth to fear this news. But free climbing sounds interesting.

Running around in barren monochrome snow covered landscapes does not sound nearly as fun as running around in the lush vibrant stunningly beautiful jungle and ancient temple set pieces of the first Uncharted. Colour me a bit worried.

Perhaps the game might not be in that one location? Maybe it’s good that it’s having a big change, if it was set in a similar location as the first one that it would just look all the same

Yeah, but that same “the same” was different from everything else. It had colours man, colours. I sure hope there is some globe trotting, no game set in a dark or generally monochrome landscape has been fun visually.
