I’ve read in MCV that most games publishers won’t be releasing PS2 titles in the new year effectively killing the format.

I would have thought PS2 game downloads will follow shortly (along with BC obviously)

If he still has a PS2 he may be happier playing it on that. The pre rendered scenes look like poop. I think they are recorded interlaced and that looks when played back on ps2 but not through the emulation on a european ps3. Still I play it on the ps3 and am happy.

Hmmm, i traded in most of my PS2 games in at game a while ago, i have 2 left, and thats because game was offering under £1 for them, they should really go on eBay with a bunch off PS1 titles.

MGS 2 doesn’t even need the second analog stick, except for the sword fighting. Snake Eater doesn’t either, but then, Subsistence (with the good camera) does. :/

Add MGS2 and 3, Resident Evil (Biohazard) 4 and the Grand Theft Auto series.

I bought my PS3 after they nixxed bw compatibility, and finally just bought a PS2 to play my old titles.

LOL i was thinking the exact same thing (hence the stars) i was considering getting shot of my back comp 60gig for nice cash on ebay (then updating a 40gig to 320gig) and still have money left over..BC is not important to me, and neither are card readers or extra USB (i can use any old comp ones for that)

I don’t think Sony will ever put Hardware emulation back in, mainly because of the costs and the costs when the laser breaks down and all the calls to the support centres…

What would be particularly great about this is the chance to buy games from the other region’s stores…

I’ll be more than a bit pissed off if they get PS2 games on the store yet don’t let you use PS2 disks. That’s an obvious business move, but an immoral one. Don’t let us down on this!

I had thought this was on the cards since they announced in Leipzig about issues being resolved to allow hot-swapping of PS2 SingStar discs because they resolved something that allowed the PS3 to read them. It seemed a lot of work to go to for something that (to me) seemed a bit niche.

Okay, so hows about updating Remote Play as well, so that I can play the Metal Gear Saga…oh but hold on, HOLD ON… the PSP has only one F%*king stick, Bollocks!!!

Oh well, one can hope for a work around.

I’ve been waiting for this since launch. There are loads of good PS2 titles but then again, there are lots of good PS1 ones that still haven’t appeared on there so I won’t hold my breath
