Next Metal Gear Not PS3?

Ah, Konami, you tease us so. This just sprang up on the Kojima Productions site this morning, it’s a flash landing page with nothing but the Konami logo and the image above. Is the green a reference to the 360? Are the exclamation marks a reference to the Wii, or Ac!d, or the DSi? Is that a PC power button? Whichever, we have a sinking feeling this isn’t a PS3 game…

Bloody hell, but as long as we get it on the PS3 as well, I’ll live. I wonder how the quality will be though, seeing as Kojima is done with the series.

My thoughts exactly. It would actually make sense and could be an awesome game on the iPhone. The ‘killer app’ the iPhone’s been waiting for?

Also notice it says ‘A next metal gear’ not ‘THE next….’

I’m assuming this won’t be the next one out. It’ll be after….who knows.

They have to be bullshitting, Metal Gear is a PS game, nothing else. If they start making MGS for other consoles, great, if they don’t make it on the PS3 console as well, not great.

It’s ok to do it like Square Enix does, but that’s the line, and no one should cross the line.

Actually, there were two spinoff MGS games that came out on different consoles. MGS Twin Snakes on Gamecube, and MGS2 Substance on the Original Xbox. I woudn’t be surprised if there was another spinoff on Wii or 360. At the same time, if Kojima came out with an MGS4 game on 360, it won’t be “Guns Of The Patriots”. Besides, that shade of green isn’t the same one as the Xbox’s.

The ! symbol is in all Metal Gear games, I don’t think it necessarily refers to Acid. My own interpretation is

(something) + (Metal Gear) = (On)

Not sure what the i refers to, could be DSi or iTouch I suppose.

That shade of green is not to my liking though…

Correction. If it was green and then turned red, then it would be a 360 game. If it was just red, no worries, it’s PS3.

Green is Xbox,
Red is PS3,
White is Wii,
Blue is PS2.

Alright, does anyone own a PS3 here? Haven’t you all noticed that that is the exact same symbol as the power button on the PS3? It’s just to the right of the eject disc button, but the circle with line in it is exactly like the power/standby button on the front of the PS3. So how can anyone be thinking it won’t be PS3?

I’m not too bothered by any of this, Metal Gear has been dead to me as a series since MGS4. It’s time to move on, right now we’ve got plenty of other things to look forward to - Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and God of War 3.

Don’t most PS3 exclusives run to 30-40gig
If there was a straight 360 port of MGS4, what would be left out? the sound? some textures? cut scenes?

If it’s the cut scenes it will be a better game

GoW2 (and many others) shows the 360 is more than capable… but something’s going to have to be missing if/when they do a 360 game

Well, everyone says “On” but I’m almost certain that the symbol means “standby”.

So another Metal Gear Game is on standby?
“A next” could just be bad English. They are Japanese after all.

I think it’s more about ‘defining’ what a ‘next’ Metal Gear game is to all of us.
What makes a “next” Metal Gear game for you?
The epic-long trailers? New screenshots?

Then again… “i”?
MGS4 had Apple products. I’m sure there’ll be some sort of Portable Ops, or card-based Acid game for the iPhone.

If this ad is hinting at a console change, then I would guess at that console being the Wii.

The symbols remind me of Wiimotes / Miis, and the third power symbol could represent the motion controls.

Then again, it could very well be for the 360 with the green and the 360 degree third symbol.

Or it could just be nothing.

But… I’m not really into the MGS games anymore anyway… the long cutscenes of MGS4 really put me off playing it!

I’ve had it from a reliable source that, and apologies if someone has already posted this, that in coding terms an exclamation mark next to and equals symbol means NOT TRUE.

i + ! = /powersymbol/

if the powersymbol does mean xbox360 and if the != does mean NOT TRUE then maybe we can all relax in the knowledge that ‘ITS NOT TRUE that the next MGS is going to XBOX.

So what does the i + mean then? last letter of Konami is i
