MCV is reporting on Time Magazine’s listing of the top 10 games of note in 2008. Think of it as a “Game of the Year” but without the knowledge, expertise or public voting that goes in to a proper assessment.
I’ll show you the whole list along with my thoughts:
1. GTA IV - Well, anybody that doesn’t know a lot about games would pick that.
2. Braid - Fair enough, I’ve heard good things about it.
3. LittleBigPlanet - Third? Hmmm, nope, you’re wrong.
4. RockBand - Urgh, I suppose hyperactive American kids love it…
5. Gears of War 2 - Ok, I can see why but it is basically another bloody sequel.
6. Dead Space - Totally, probably should have been higher up the list from what I hear.
7. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - WHAT? Wasn’t this awful? Did anyone buy this crap?
8. Hunted Forever - Sorry, what’s this? Are they taking the piss?
9. Fieldrunners - An iPhone game? really? Are there no other real games they could include?
10. Spore - Oh, a disappointing “breed-em-up” that single-handedly revived the Piracy scene.
So there you have it. If you want a “games of note” list, it’s probably best to ask someone who knows something about games.
Niko Bellic for 2008 Time Person of the Year?
I’d like to point out that I wasn’t very funny in this article because, well, because some people just don’t like funny. Take it up with them.
