lol okay, next-gen. But seriously, 20 or so worlds of climbing for a bit, then fighting the same bosses OVER AND OVER. Stale or what. Oh, I forgot the refreshing change where you have to spend hours collecting 540 light seeds. Each zone is EXACTLY the same shit as the last.

I've rented alone in the dark and it's the buggiest piece of crap I've ever played. There's so much small bugs and then a few huge bugs, right now I can't progress as I've hit a graphically glitch where all of the textures create massive lines across the screen and I can't see anything. :(

I should be a SONY tester, I have a knack for making buggy games crash. I would have suspected there is something wrong with my PS3 since it crashes so often during certain games if it wasn't for the fact that having clocked tens of hours in certain other games my PS3 just ticks along without a flinch.

So, yeah, the problem is definitely with the games, not my system.

I didn't have problem with the voice talent, I thought he did a wonderful job, only the obnoxious character he had to portray. The attitudes of the Prince and Elika were just so damn out of place for the time and the way both carried themselves was just annoying.

The game was buggy too, crashed my PS3 a few times, something I have come to expect from Ubisoft among others this generation.

I comPLETELY agree with you on the linearness.
It completely limited the game.
I know that people always go on that games are too linear, but you need linearness so that you can scale things accordingly. If they wanted openness, they should have just made multiple routes through each area which would still have meant that there could have been story in the middle of the game instead of just for 5 minutes at the start and end. It also could have meant that the set pieces could have become bigger and harder and we could have witnessed a difficulty curve.
With no way of knowing when you'll be at a certain point, they couldn't do that with the set up they have now.
And I know what you mean about the enemies, I wasn't really sure why they were there and what they were doing.
Had there been more story in the middle to keep me interested, the ending would also have meant much more to me.
And after Mirrors Edge (which I think is fantastic, even though there is a lot wrong with it) it was too easy. There was no timing needed.
I look forward to the sequel. Hopefully they'll introduce things that will mix up the gameplay more than just having awful flying sections here and there. I can't play the game anymore. The platinum would be insanely easy to get, but I get bored now everytime I play it.
I didn't experience any bugs though.
And I wouldn't have minded the prince so much if they had a different voice actor. Everytime he spoke I just couldn't get Drake out my head and it completely took me out of the experience. Drake is SO cool. The prince is just annoying.

If someone said the words "Prince Of Persia" to me I'd think of the words "Spikes & Dying"

Anything other than that and they may as well have called it something else, and done the brave thing and started a new franchise.

Anyway, I've nearly finished Tomb Raider, and I can trade that in for 19.80, and get PoP for 19.98, and that will be me set for the weekend.

This game is to easy and repetative. Bring back the old style. Set path, loads more enemies, fuck the magic powers and the old style combat. The sands of time, warrrior within and the two thrones where sooo much better....

It is hard to quantify in a score, I would say it is a few notches above the abysmal, bug ridden, boring and repetitive Assassins Creed and sadly a few notches below Sands of Time. I would place it somewhere in the middle of the two.

It didn't grow on me, as the game didn't provide much there to grow on passed the first hour or so. The villains were one dimensional, the characters were two dimensional, the story and world, though breathtakingly beautiful, was confused and lacked some serious fleshing out. The gameplay was repetitive, though ultimately fun (unlike Assassins) and unfortunately existed in a challengless void.

I think instead of writing all those painful back forth sexually charged banter between the princess and the sex crazed surfer dude prince they should have revealed more of the villains, their motivations and their backgrounds. That and also dial back the in your face smarmy attitude of the Prince, nobody likes a wise ass, not even one loaded with gold.

A return to a more linear sort of gameplay could help them give them game more of purpose, direction and urgency and help tremendously with the story telling. Besides nobody likes going through the same place a hundred times in a game with as little variety as this. Sandboxing and go your own path gameplay is overrated and overused.

Punish failure much less leniently and work on a more engrossing and intuitive combat system.

To not be a negative sod for once I would say of this Prince of Persia that at least it leaves behind a lot to work on in the sequel.

I grabbed this game right after Christmas (along with Dead Space) and I enjoy Nolan North, because if you Wikipedia him, he has actually done a lot of roles that have made me laugh with what his character says. Prince of Persia had sme of the funniest dialogue and, personally, if you could find a better actor to play this type of character then tell me and I'll be the judge of that.

The game could've been a lot longer and harder but i'll take it as it is, and I'm not the most hardcore gamer but collecting the lightseeds seems like a really easy task after beating the game. The only Trophy I'm going to have trouble with is the one where she saves you less than 100 times throughout the game.In the first area I got saved arond 50 times, so you can judge how many times i had to get saved throughout the whole game.

what score did you give it after you'd completed it?
Did it grow on you more?
Because I liked the ending. The middle dragged on a bit. There wasn't enough variety. And the magic powers were a load of shit. Just one of the jumping ones I thought actually felt like it belonged in the game.

Thanks, it was kind of my review of the game, done in a most untraditional manner. A summing up of all that went through my head when I started playing it for a few hours.

Cool, nice review dj!

Probably won't be getting PoP in the near future, though. Maybe once it hits the bargain bin then I'll pick it up.
