Just over a month after Free Radical closed its doors and seemingly died an unfortunate death 1up are reporting that they’ve been bought by CryTek who made the original Far Cry game and the more recent (beautiful) Crysis.

This is great news if it means that Free Radical will get a chance to continue making the games they’re famous for, like Timesplitters (rather than infamous for, like Haze).

UPDATE: This story has now been confirmed, with 43 jobs being saved in the process. Hopefully Free Radical will be allowed to continue their work on a new Timesplitters and a new Battlefront (complete with the awesome ground-to-space game engine).
