There’s apparently a few tweaks coming to Resistance 2 this Thursday, firstly some premium DLC in the shape of the Aftermath Map Pack and some new character skins, but more interestingly a patch to enable two users to log onto the game locally under different PSN IDs, according to this poster on GAF and this interview. Previously it was assumed that logging into 2 PSN accounts on the same machine wasn’t possible, and Insomniac’s JStevenson had alluded to this being because the Firmware wasn’t there to allow it, so does this add further weight to our rumours that we’ll be getting a new Firmware update before Thursday, if only to support this new feature in Resistance 2?

This has been done in Little Big Planet, so nothing new there?

This has not been in LBP. It’s only player one that is logged in with his PSN username. The other profiles are only logged in with the local profiles.

LBP is 2 profiles but not fully as i’m pretty sure only the first profile can earn trophies. i agree it will be ace, a sign of things to come for all games hopefully.

Both profiles get trophies in LBP.

I’m fairly certain they don’t actually, but maybe I’m wrong.

Well. It’s the only way my gf could have received all those 30 LBP-trophies ;)
However, those trophies are only given to the “second profile” when that user starts the game as herself.
So, this user is logged in locally, but it’s synced later on.
Doubt Resistance 2 will solve it in any other way.

Ah, I see. So both profiles do get trophies, but it sounds like MM found a clever way to do it that did not depend on having firmware support for it.

I think that feature was added in 2.60. At least that’s what I inferred from a JStevensons post on the PSBlog shortly after the release of 2.60.
“Now you may be asking, “But what about adding the option to save the second player’s character progress?” Truth be told, it required a certain PS3 firmware that wasn’t available at the time of Resistance 2’s release. We now have that firmware and are currently working to implement the feature. As soon as it’s ready, we’ll get it out to you.”

Thank you :)

First off, am I right in saying this is the only game that allows for two people to play online on the same console? Wat up wit dat? :S
Secondly I think this idea is great. Its great when a mate comes round to play the co-op, but it would be even better if he could sign in from his account and level up his character aswell!
Lets hope its true!

If this full co-op mode works then I’ll actually start playing resistance 2 with ‘real’ (as opposed to PSN) friends again. Not being able to have characters of a similar level made it pretty pointless before.
That is of course assuming that we get the patch at the same time as America – something you just can’t take for granted.

Sweet, not only has Resistance got an amazing online already, this will increase the fantasticalness of it. Fantasticalness is my new word. It means for something to be fantastical.

Hope the maps can be used in Co-op, still need to get to level 30.
