Warhawk Is Dead, Long Live Starhawk

New trademark strongly hints at likely Warhawk sequel, giving further weight to the rumoured space-based gameplay.

As we discussed in our Easter news round up, Dylan Jobe and his new Lightbox Interactive crew are almost certainly now hard at work on a sequel to Warhawk. Rumours abound that the game will be set in space, but a recent trademark application in the name of Starhawk by SCEA suggests that there’s more weight to this rumour than we first thought. The trademark, filed last week “for a computer or video game and operating a real-time game for others over a global and local area computer network” could well apply to any game, but, hey, it’s got the word “Hawk” in it, so we don’t think we’re clutching at straws here.

Exciting stuff. We just hope Lightbox retain the on-foot sections too, as I’ve personally never actually liked the Warhawks themselves. Let’s hope we hear more about this at E3 this year.
