Whilst no PS3 titles have sold over a million in the UK alone yet, the PS3 is enjoying some pretty decent software sales overall. FIFA 09 might be the best selling UK PlayStation 3 title in the charts with over 600,000 units shifted according to figures released by ELSPA today, but exclusives like Metal Gear Solid 4 (with over 300,000 sold) and Killzone 2 (over 200,000 sold) still impress. A little further down the chart, looking at games that have sold over 100,000 copies, are Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4 and SingStar.

Even more impressive seeing as it’s only just reached 3 months old.
The article intrigued me, so i looked up biggest selling game of all time across any format.
NintenDOGS!!! Seriously. Even if that is all variations combined, 21.5m sold. Wow. There are a lot of dogs out there!!

Also its out sold Halo Wars in the UK showing (which is yet to break 200k) that the Halo brand isn’t as strong over here even with the 1mil lead in hardware. Its makes Killzone’s sales that much more impressive

Halo wars is a niche product whereas Killzone 2 is a mass market one, so I don’t think you can compare them, and Halo Wars is already the best selling console RTS, ever.

Halo Wars was a RTS and most people think of Halo as an FPS. Maybe that’s why it didn’t sell well?

It did sell well, it sold incredibly well, it was the best selling title of the genre on the platform ever, that is the power of the Halo brand

Considering 4 years of hype, I think these figures are slightly disappointing, games with far less hype have sold faster & better I think.
Is anyone outside of the hardcore clan members still playing it? My friends list says no

I’m not a hardcore clan member but if you’re asking about SP, I don’t play that. When I’ve got a platinum trophy on Dead Space I’ll probably play Killzone 2 online sometime preferablly on boot camps.
I don’t plan to play single player.

The same can be said about any FPS, I only played the COD4 SP once and NEVER, not once went back to it. With KZ, I was at least able to go back and play the most fun levels (those with vehicles etc) and get trophies. So…

I’m not impressed with the figures either. I’m expecting something to rival Halo, it certainly has the calibre to do so. I know the first game sucked but this is still a triumph as far as exclusive PS3 FPS’s go.
But ofcourse, Sony dont market titles properly. I should be seeing ads for this and various other games all the time like the annoying Wii adverts or those stupid ‘head’ adverts for xbox.
Still if Sony are happy with the figures, I’m happy, cause its a brilliant game anyway.

Unfortunately as is the case among many of mine. Infact bar one friend who I badgered to get the game anyway, all of my friend list play the same two games, COD5 and FIFA 09.
Shame. But atleast others agree that it needs FAR more advertising!
