I thought it has no online because of the physics ala PAIN. But I could be wrong.
I would've like to see a story mode like Smash Bros. and a lot more things to unlock, like other PS3 exclusive characters NOT paying for them in DLC but unlock them in challenges.

You forget, the majority of console owners this gen don't have real friends - that's why sony haven't even implemented the feature of signing in on multiple profiles on one console yet, and most games don't even allow an additional player to have their own name.

But this game is a brilliant laugh with some mates round, and I think that would all be lost online. When people play online they play to win, not to have fun, so maybe the devs thought they could keep the spirit of the game better intact without it.

It really lost points because it lacks online multiplayer (which seems like an ideal fit for this game) and the single player is so short.

It is a really good game, I just think the experience varies depending on whether you're playing on your own or with 3 mates. I have to review it for a broad spectrum so it gets a score somewhere between the brief single player game and the awesome party-potential.

The first time I played this was with a very mixed group of mates, gamers and non-gamers, male and female and we were all in hysterics. It is one of the best local multiplayer games I've ever tried and we were on it for well over 3 hours. 2 vs 2 matches are great and we soon formed teams competing for the championship of the day.

A week later we were together again and it was demanded I broke this game out.
Having played the single player challenges a little I thought I'd have an unfair advantage over my mates but really it just allowed me to explain some of the less obvious moves and stuff. After about an hour and with me teamed up with the weakest player we were on a fairly even footing again and the hours rolled by.

I am fairly sure online multiplayer will be added later but without it, if you regularly have a few mates round, it's great value.
I would say though, the single player is short and replay value is probably limited so not one for the solo player really

- that said, it was a good review, but I personally love this game to such a degree that anything but a 9 or 10 would have seemed a little low to me.

Surprisingly low score, given the lack of real criticism of the game.

I think a value for money score would be quite nice. It's one of the first things i think when on the precipice of deciding whether to buy a psn game... is it really worth 8 squids or will I end up sitting at home full of regret that i wasted my food money on crap. Granted that hasn't happened on too many occasions but still...

If seven is "well above" average, I'd disagree with that.. if five is average "Well above" would be nine.. seven is only "average plus a half mores average" which doesnt sound too exciting to me.. but what does that make 8? A bit unmissable? And 9? Hugely above average but might walk on your nice clean carpet with muddy shoes?

I demand to know!

I gave it an 8, personally, it's brilliantly good fun. The lack of of online is simply baffling, though. Senseless.

1 is awful, 5 is average, 10 is unmissable so a 7 is pretty good but not brilliant. Well above average.
