We’re not sure why anyone would want a new PS3 design, the thing’s gorgeous. Well, it’s not, it’s a bit big, and heavy, and picks up fingerprints quicker than a forensic scientist, but you know what we mean. There’s been lots of rumours floating around recently about Sony’s plans to announce tweaks to the design of the PlayStation 3 at E3 2009, rumours which Sony today have shot down. “We currently don’t have any plans for a redesigned PS3,” said a rep for Sony this morning to CVG.
A new PSP is a possibility, mind, although we’re fairly sure that won’t be happening either. Ah, E3 time: brings out the best in everyone.

I can’t see the Man From Delmonte being happy about this.
Me; meh, they will do a reduce size at some point, at the moment, no. Maybe next E3?

It is soooo heavy though. Almost amusingly so, if I didn’t get so afraid when moving it about. Nowt they can do about that, mind you…

i think one of the main reasons why it is so heavy is because the power adapter/inverter thing is built into the console design, so we dont have any bricks to hide away behind our tv like the wii and the xbox! have you seen the size of the xbox one?! I could build a house for little people with a few of those!

All the best video/audio equipment is heavy to reduce the effect of environmental factors … or something.

Just wish the casing wasn’t so dust prone. I might buy a skin for my PS3 just to take the gloss away.

Staying with the same design is fine by me as I have no intention of buying a second machine just yet. However, a few musts for the eventual redesign, slimmer job: USB ports at the back, maybe a bit flatter, oh, and make it less of a dust magnet.

USB ports at the back is a must, then I wouldn’t have my EyeToy cable hanging over the corner of my TV… oh who am am I kidding there’s never going to be any more games for it, I’ll just put it away and stop anticipating.

If I had a penny for every time Sony said they didn’t have plans to do something, shortly before we all find out they’ve done it, I’d have at least 24p by now.

The outer design is fine but generally it is faulty because a lot of us are now dropping like flies because of the overheating problem, that is ultimatly a design problem isnt it?
