Prototype Broken

Is this laziness or incompetence? Patches show their ugly side again with a title being sold broken with a fix promised.

The PlayStation 3 version of Prototype which hit shelves in North America today is, apparently, broken.

Activision have published a “workaround” and stated that they hope to have the problem fixed as soon as possible. Not soon enough for all the PlayStation 3 owners who aren’t connected to the internet to recieve the patch. Perhaps they can spend their time playing inFamous or telling passing strangers that they never thought they’d see a game which was more buggy than Fallout 3. Maybe they thank their lucky stars that they’re not one of those impatient types that expects a product they pay $60 for to actually work as described?

Sometimes I am dumbfounded by the lack of professionalism shown by some huge developers and publishers. This can surely not be something that was difficult to detect in testing so the implication has to be that they knew the game was broken when they took people’s money. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

If you’re one of the (un)lucky Europeans who got their pre-order delivered early maybe you can let us know if the game they sold in Europe was broken too?

If you want to know the workaround (rather than just taking the game back to the shop you bought it from and demanding the refund you are legally entitled to) just visit source link below.
