Great games and great times.
Too bad that David -Bugs Bunny- Braben used to bring out the series way ahead of proper game completion.
Sometimes the games had more bugs in them then the hood of a car after a summer day ride in the country.
Mind you, the game concept was absolutely brilliant and it had a more devoted following than many an ayatollah.
Cant wait to see this one.

From time to time I fire up Frontier on my Amiga Emulator, I do still have this disks (the game was on one disk, with the other as the save game) around here somewhere.

It’s quite astonishing that there was so much game play on 1.44mb floppy.

I played Elite on my MSX for many many hours.

I hope he/they manage to retain the magic.

Please, pretty please with sugar on top keep the flight model.

I played Frontier on the amiga and absolutely loved it, and the fact that it had an accurate physics model, where you kept travelling unless you used thrusters to slow yourself down, meant it played completely different from other space sims that are just “planes in space”.

They should also keep the classical music in there (was it there in elite and first encounters too?) just use an orchestra recording instead this time around.

Honestly, I’d rather they worked on finishing The Outsider – it sounds like an interesting concept, but has just been in development forever!

Elite IV would be good I s’pose, but will likely never live up to people’s memories of the original.

I spent a lot of time playing Elite on my C64. Didn’t even know parts 2 and 3 exist. I’m curious what the new PS3 version will be like!

Yeah, they intended to release FFE as “Elite 3″ I think, but it got bogged down in other stuff that was going on and got released in a bit of a buggy mess. Frontier is still the one to beat for me.
