The PS3 Slim rumours continue. Apparently two Taiwanese companies (Foxconn and Pegatron) have been awarded the contract to manufacture the much-rumoured PS3 Slim. According to UDN, half the orders have gone to each company, with the units expected to start shipping in early July to “cope with the expected summer vacation demands”.
These two firms actually produced the original PS3, so this does ring true, and with the Japanese buying most of their games consoles in the hotter months, lets hope that the rumours are indeed true and we can finally put this particular rumour to rest. The units are expected to hit the market, if all this checks out, in August or September, so we’ll know very soon…

Hmm.. the font of the ‘PS3′ looks a bit different, for a start.
I guess if they can’t afford to drop of the price of the PS3 in its current shape then a complete chassis overhaul would make sense.

Touch wood my 60-giger doesn’t crap out. If it does though, I may well get a slim to replace it…especially seeing as Continuous Play is no more.

Continuous Play has been scrapped because too many people signed up the day their PS3 broke, waited two weeks, then claimed. Otherwise known as insurance fraud.

My mate did that when he had a slim PSP, PS2 and DS.
I pointed out that it just showed I bought them when he was new. Idiot.

There was news of new 120gb models or something like that =S
I wonder if there will be anything different in them.

I personally think it’s obvious that it is FAKE.
Look at the actual front you got no chance of putting the PS Family logo and the disc space that is required to be put on. If that isn’t a valid point then when did they decide to change the font of the PS3 logo and where is the ‘PLAYTATION 3′ on the top, camera quality can’t be so bad to completely black out words

Considering they have the Sony, PSN and PS logos correct (at least it looks correct to me), why would they use a ‘fake’ PS3 logo unless Sony really are changing the font? It can’t exactly be hard to the source the correct logo.

To be fair, as earlier comments suggest, even if this is real I would think it’s a good way off actual release, possibly a Christmas launch but they’d need plenty produced and boxed up ready long before that.

dont like the looks, if anything i want a big chunky console showing off. the ps2 slim did look good so you never know what it may look like in real life. maybe it happens with the ps3 price cut?

i don’t like the idea of a slime PS3 it’s alright how it is no need to slime it down they should just work on more programs for the PS3 instead of make a new model which will not even sell good
