Continuous Play has been scrapped because too many people signed up the day their PS3 broke, waited two weeks, then claimed. Otherwise known as insurance fraud.

That’s why is Sony so secretive about it. If they’d announce a price cut or a new system – it would affect sales of the current one. Personally I don’t really care – I’m happy with my ps3 and I like the design a lot. It’s a perfect fit with my panasonic telly. I do need a bigger HD though, but that’s a different story.

Apparently two Taiwanese companies (Foxconn and Pegatron) have been awarded the contract to manufacture the PS3 Slim. Why can’t sony just announce either a future price cut or a new system. I need to get another console and also upgrade the hdd but all these rumours just keep putting me off

i don’t like the idea of a slime PS3 it’s alright how it is no need to slime it down they should just work on more programs for the PS3 instead of make a new model which will not even sell good

dont like the looks, if anything i want a big chunky console showing off. the ps2 slim did look good so you never know what it may look like in real life. maybe it happens with the ps3 price cut?

To be fair, as earlier comments suggest, even if this is real I would think it’s a good way off actual release, possibly a Christmas launch but they’d need plenty produced and boxed up ready long before that.

Seems a bit soon to me for two reasons:
1) The PS2 cost a considerable amount more than the PSP or even PS2 so people are likely to be reluctant to ‘upgrade’ especially in the current financial climate
2) People who want a PS3 but haven’t bought it yet are probably waiting for a price drop not a redesign and I would have thought the current console at a low price would sell better than a slim one at the same, or only slightly lower, price

I certainly don’t know anyone who thinks “yeah I’d like a PS3 and I can certainly afford one. If it was slimmer i’d buy right now”
