DJ Hero Set To Be Costly

Activision feel that it should cost an arm and a leg to be a DJ.

I for one, am not overly interested in Activision’s upcoming new music game DJ Hero, but for those of you that are, be prepared to hand over a lot of notes to further increase your plastic-instrument-to-room ratio. According to UK retailer ShopTo, DJ Hero will cost a huge £107.99, which is considerably more than the Guitar Hero (and peripheral) price which is around £69.99.

The price of the game plus the DJ turntable peripheral is greatly more expensive than it will be for our American counterparts as GameStop have the title priced at just $120 (which is about £70). Why the UK will experience further increase in pricing is still infuriating. So if you were excited for the inbound DJ experience, are you still?

  1. Mark it up in the uk again, brilliant. I won’t be wasting money on this

    • thats just stupid all GH and noe DJ hero are overpriced never spent a penny on this fancise never will

  2. Gettin really hacked off with Euro pricing. And yes i understand the whole Euro to Yen to Dollar thing. Still annoying.

  3. *Edit Sterling to Euro to dollar to Yen.

  4. I wasn’t going to waste money on it anyway, to be honest. Like I want to be a DJ. I own Guitar Hero 3.

OH. And I play the fucking guitar.

    DJ Hero my rectum.

  5. I’ll stick to my real decks I think. Much the same way as, if I could play a real guitar I’d stick to that.

  6. the other DJ game thats being made is meant to be better than this anyway just not as polished

  7. “Why the UK will experience further increase in pricing is still infuriating. So if you were excited for the inbound DJ experience, are you still?”

    Ask Gordon

    • I did. He waffled something about money and the decline of the pound, it was difficult to make out what he said though, almost like he didn’t know what he was talking about…

  8. erh, no thanks. i dont even like gutiar hero or rockband.

    • then your missing out. i dont like the guitars but i love rock band drums.

  9. I was interested, now I’m not.

    • Same :/

  10. I can see the appeal with people wanting to play music games like Rock Band or Guitar Hero but DJs don’t make music. They either put extra bits in songs that already exist, link two songs together in a way that doesn’t involve pressing stop then play or in some crazy cases get pre-made riffs and add a thumping bass and drums. I just can’t see myself wanting to do that in a gamefor around £110 or in real life. Obviously this is just my opinion and i’m sorry to any DJs out there but can anyone really claim a DJ is a musician?

    • Before the fire storm that is about to surround you………..
      Carl Cox.

    • Yes DJs would. I know of one or two DJs who say it’s actually harder than playing an instrument. I mean they need to focus on what’s going out and beat match it with a second song (at the very least). I’ve tried that and it’s really not an easy task, even when you use software that helps to automate the process. Hell I’ve done some student radio DJing and selecting two songs which complement each other is hard enough if you just let them crossfade.

      • See I’m learning here. I have heard of the whole beat matching thing but never seen it in action. And that Carl Cox does look quite impressive but still I think the fact that DJs don’t seem to ‘make’ the music gives the impression of the lack of musicianship. Some instruments can be easier than others but still writing a song and putting all the pieces together just sounds like it would be harder than beat matching would be. Obviously I’m not saying DJs are talentless or anything because I know I can’t do it although I’ve never properly tried.

  11. More frustrating that the difference between the Guitar Hero guitar bundle and the DJ Hero bundle in the US is only $20, about £12. The difference of £38 over here equates to about $62 over there.

And the saddest thing? I’ll still be looking for a way to get this. The game play from E3 look really fun, a lot better than I’d expected. Might wait to see if this compatible with Scratch though (I doubt it).

  12. Ridiculous. There is just no way that a company can charge 100plus for a game!

Yet here is Activision. I hope it bombs.

    • i reakon it will suck too

  13. But , if the Ps3 is region free ( which it is ) then all it takes is an order from across the pond ! Postage on a rather large golf club I got the other day was £20 so your still gonna save about £20-30 on it . Gotta use your smarts see , that club was only £159 over there whereas over here it’s £300 +

    • But then you will be unable to buy the likely DLC and if you have any issues with the peripheral, you’re screwed.

      • Is the PS3 region free? For games too? What a revelation.

      • True …. I feel a bit deflated now :P

      • PS3 games are region free, movies generally aren’t, they follow the same region locking as DVD’s

  14. I was interested in this title, but not for that price. £60-70 for the game as well as the turntable seems reasonable, but how can they justify such a high price?

  15. Not for me at that price, I’ll stick to my plastic drums, plastic guitars and my real guitars thank you.
