Update: Store content now live.

In light of recent ‘issues’ with our Store updates, we’ve decided to approach this week’s content slightly differently, we hope you’ll be happy with it and appreciate that we simply couldn’t go down the increasingly ridiculous rumours route any more – we’ll save that kind of nonsense for PS2 compatibility and PS3 Slims.  So, without further ado, here’s today’s update:

PlayStation Store Update: 02/07/09

Original PSN-only PS3 Games:

  • topatoi: The Great Tree Story – a cute looking 3D platform/puzzle combo with split screen and the promise of DLC down the line.  Check out the official site here or the developer’s site here.  Available now for just £7.99, we’ll have a review ASAP.
  • Punisher: No Mercy – a brand new PSN-exclusive first person shooter, in which the players face off against other players locally and online, in addition to a single player mode.  Four maps will be available at launch alongside various game modes.  A surprise European release at £6.29 – nice work SCEE. Check the official site here.
  • Numblast: Cute 2D puzzler in which wou swap the numbered cubes on the grid to create combinations of 4 identical cubes in a two-by-two square. This will cause them to explode but, before they do, the numbers on these cubes will count up. This allows you to plan for combos and create chain explosions for huge scores.  More info here.  £3.99.
  • Red Baron: A free demo of this World War I arcade shooter.  Obviously free.

PlayStation Home Content:

  • SOCOM Tactical Operations Centre - it’s been available elsewhere for a while but we’ll definitely get this new Home Space tomorrow. Great news for SOCOM fans, the TOC will feature a central map area so you can play your assaults with Clan members and friends from within Home.
  • inFamous: Abandoned Docks Area – a brand new area that will broadcast exclusive Sucker Punch content in addition to a built-in side scrolling minigame called Reaper shock.  Excellent news for inFamous fans, this Home Space should be your first port of call when it launches tomorrow.
  • Killzone 2 Visari Throne Room - another Home area, the Visari Throne Room (apartment) will be available from the Shopping Centre tomorrow – perfect for Killzone 2 fans (paging the TSA clan!) this brand new space is launching tomorrow so there’s no European delay.  Prices:  Space: £4, Visari chair £1.59, Visari desk £1.59, Helghan Defense painting £1.59 – Thanks Kevling.

PSP Games:

  • Capcom Classics Collection Remixed is the first in a series of Capcom classics that will hit the PSN Store over the next weeks and months.  The PSP download will include Capcom favourites like Final Fight, Bionic Commando, Street Fighter, and Magic Sword.  Sadly only made it to the US Store, shame, as this is ace.
  • Minna No-X – don’t forget that whatever this is, it’ll be out and playable on the Japanese Store later today.  Read the full story here, but we still don’t have any idea what the game will be.  Update: we’ll have a full report on this later.

PS3 Game Downloadable Content:

  • LittleBigPlanet – Sacktue of Liberty Costume. Media Molecule’s cute play on words has resulted in an even cuter costume for everyone’s favourite Sackboy.  The Sacktue of Liberty Costume will be available for free tomorrow, and will be available in Europe in addition to the States.
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour. NOFX’s Linoleum, Bad Religion’s 21st Century (Digital Boy) and Rancid’s Ruby Soho will be available to download tomorrow, if slightly cheap throwaway ‘punk’ is your thing.  It’s not ours, but then I personally haven’t bought a single track for GH:WT from the Store.
  • Rock Band: 3 tracks from the Vans Warped World Tour: “Sweet Talk” by Dear and the Headlights, “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” by The Devil Wears Prada and “Image of the Invisible” from Thrice appear alongside a Foreigner three pack consisting of Blue Morning, Blue Day“, Feels Like the First Time“and Headknocker“.  Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s “Weapon of Choice” completes the list.
  • Motorstorm: Pacific Rift: Speed Pack.  New tracks, new vehicles, new events and new Trophies.  This hit Japan today so is highly likely to appear on the European Store too – check here for a full list of the updates, but we’re assuming  yesterday’s 600MB patch had something to do with this.  A bargain £4.79.

PS3 Game Updates:

  • Blast Factor – Trophy Patch. This week the much awaited patch for Blast Factor went live giving players access to Trophies, something that’s been a bone of contention for European gamers since the game went live.  To read more about the patch and to see a list of the Trophies, click here.
  • Motorstorm – Home Patch. Alongside a few new Trophies, badges and the other tweaks you get from these Motorstorm patches, the latest one (which weighs in at 600MB) also comes with Home game launching.  To read more about the patch, click here.

Other content that landed today included an update to Vidzone (new playlists), a massive pile of Tiger Woods unlockables, another free livery pack for Motorstorm, DLC for Dynasty Warriors 6 and a few trailers: WipEout HD Fury, Battlefield 1943, Motorstorm, Batman Arkham Asylum, Bayonetta, Mini Ninjas and Astro Tripper.  An excellent update, with plenty for everyone, we think.

  1. I like the new layout for the update.
Its nice you give a little bit of info on each item.
As for the update I’ve got my fingers crossed for ghostbusters but Im not getting my hopes up.

  2. Sounds better than the last few weeks. But no MGS1 :(

  3. Your description of NOFX as throwaway makes me sad.

    • Yes, NOFX are good! I will definately pick up the Sacktue Of Liberty Costume tomorrow :D

  4. I wasn’t expecting to much this week again from the PSN store update. Tapatoi looks pretty good and I hope the punisher is released though.

    • the Punisher looks brilliant for a download :)

  5. Cool, I would be happy with that update (especially the Home stuff)
I would ecstatic with the Call of Juarez demo though :)

  6. I like the new aproach to the PS store updates.
They put my mind at rest so i don’t need to cross my fingers for half the stuff.

  7. maybe well get the GhostBusters private space for Home as well ^^

  8. Fair enough re: the reformat, but I always took it as educated guesswork & didn’t take major offence when it was incorrect. Some people!

Thanks though Nofi & it is appreciated. :)

Hadn’t heard about that Tree-Gyro-Game thing before, do you reckon it’s Spindizzy done decently?

PS I’m putting money on MS:PR Speed (or Adrenaline?) pack being available tomorrow also. I’m just scared how many t-shirts it will cost as I’m feeling the crunch this month & have to pay for a trip Oop North in a couple of weeks…

  9. Like the new setup for the store updates, keep it up guys.

  10. I’m pretty sure the SPEED expansion is either coming this week or next week.

  11. Liking the look of the new updates. Should lead to less dissapointment if things fall through.
Plus its nice to get some info on the new releases.

  12. Never heard about topatoi but it looks pretty good. Will give it a try tomorrow. Plus a new free Sackboy costume. Yay!
I like the new store update preview. Some people took the ‘probable’ update list far too serious and this should keep them from being disappointed and getting angry.

    • I’ve seen the teaser trailer before and remember it for it’s weirdness. The game looks pretty good though. Guess the price will be the deciding factor.

  13. Looks like a good update this week :)

Will any members of The TSA KZ clan actually by the “Throne Room” for meetups etc???

  14. Nofi , do companies send you games to review before they’re released to the open public ? Think I’m gonna buy Call of Juarez on fri and swap in Sacred 2 because it’s ever so rubbish and I trust your judgement .

  15. Yay for Thrice! They are my favourite.

    • good man :-D

      • and good man to yourself too :)
