GTA DLC Coming To PS3? No, Just No. [55]

Everybody loves a good rumour, especially when it involves 360 exclusives appearing on the PS3, and especially when sites use words like “confirmed” – juicy.  In this case, it’s the rumours that two additional DLC packs for the epic Grand Theft Auto IV are in development, and are heading to the PS3 (as well as the 360, obviously).

If you’ll remember, around E3 gossip was bubbling about something called “Blood and a Four Leaf Clover” and now PS3Informer is claiming that this will be the title of one of the DLC packs, which will be centred around the Irish family in the main GTA IV story thread.

Other analysts are backing up this story, suggesting that both expansions will be released in Fiscal 2010 – and better still – be followed by GTA V the next year.  Everyone remembers the $50M ‘loan’ from Microsoft for the first two expansions to be 360 exclusive, but it looks likely that the PS3 will get it’s own slice of GTA goodness soon enough.

  1. Considering how many GTA3 games (3, Vice City, San Andreas) would we be seeing GTA5 or a spin off?

    • IV is in effect a remake of 3, so presumably there will be a VC & SA version of it, maybe?

  2. I must now decide whether to keep GTAIV in anticipation for these DLC or sell it like i was planning.
I’m sticking with sell i think.

    • I’ve been going through the same decision for ages. So far keeping it is still winning. I am tempted to start it again to go through the choices differently and get some of the trophies.

    • CEX will give you a whopping £7 for it, not really worth selling it is it?

  3. Hopefully we will see some DLC for GTA, I haven’t played it for ages but I think I’ll play it after I finish LOTR.

  4. as much as I do enjoy DLC, I wonder if this delays work on the sequel and by how much. I’m all for extending replay value, but I don’t to wait want 3-4 years between games.

  5. How much was the dlc on xbox live (in real money, not points)?

    • ‘The Ballad of Gay Tony’ will apparently cost 1600 points, which equates to £13.60 / €19.20

  6. To be honest I would prefer they develop a completely new instalment rather than keep bringing out DLC, even though DLC is probably a lower-cost and faster turnaround business model.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Vice City remake, but I’d hope they make the city’s geography a little more interesting (i.e. some hills) and perhaps make it a period piece again, because the ’80s vibe of VC was far more interesting than that of GTA3 or SA.

  7. Dont worry folks, Mafia 2 will be out soon enough. The king of the sandbox.

  8. Grand Theft Auto games have alawys been out on the Sony consoles and has had better performance on the sony systems when they introduced GTa 3 and Vice Sity or Vice City and San Andreas to the Xbox. I think the GTA 4 DLC should come out on the PSN first before giving it to the xbox just as it used to be. I just hope this rumour turns out to be confirmed.

    • I would like that too, but there is no rational fiscal reason in the world why that would happen, unless Sony stumped up the cash to make the series times exclusive again. Don’t hold your breath.

  9. Any DLC for this on the PS3 would be a welcome addition to my collection.

  10. i was best at vice city pc CLAN TLR!!

  11. I don’t think GTA 4: Lost And Damned or Gay Tony will be coming out for PS3 because Microsoft paid lots of money to Rockstar Games. Well maybe Any other ones?

Btw is the Agency only multiplayer? :)
