Yesterday Americans found out that they will be able to buy Forza 3 on the 27th October whilst our Antipodean cousins can pick it up a few days earlier on the 23rd. Now Microsoft have announced that here in Europe we will be able to tear up the racetracks much earlier on the 3rd October.
Update: Apologies, seems that I propagated an error. Checking more sources the European release date is 23rd October the same as for Australia and New Zealand. Thanks to PzR Tak for pointing out my mistake.
Alongside the announcement of the release date a whole paddock full of new screenshots have been released featuring a class of cars that Turn 10 like to call “Euro Sport Compacts” racing around Spain’s Circuit de Catalunya.
The Euro Sport Compacts group is an odd collection of cars that you would not normally expect to find grouped together; Alfa Romeo Brera TI, Alfa Romeo MiTo, Fiat 500 Abarth SS, Ford Fiesta Zetec S, Ford Focus RS, Lotus Evora, Mini Cooper JCW, Renault Twingo Renault Sport Cup, Saab 9-3 Turbo X, Seat Ibiza Cupra, Vauxhall Corsa VXR, Volvo C30 R-Design.

Simply cannot wait. I played the previous Forzas to death and the third is looking to be the best (by video and still footage) so far.
The second was let down by the absence of the Sprint race event from the first, I really hope it makes a return.

Oooooh. I dunno what to make of this. I’ve only had a brief go on FORZA 2, but thought it was fairly good!

I’d like to have an Xbox so I can play this game… GT5 will do me just fine though. I guess I could always try and convince my brother to get it for his Xbox though =D
Cool that we’re getting it before the US

Im curious if Polphony Digital will now announce a release date for GT5, to try and get the jump on/avoid/compete directly with Forza…considering that they said the game was done.

I’m glad Forza’s date is a bit earlier than I expected. Gives me more time to play it before GT5 turns up.
I sunk about 50 hours into just offline racing in Forza 2, which is probably more than I’ve spent in all the GTs combined since GT2. Plus countless hours fine tuning and customising the ridiculous number of cars I amassed in my Forza garage.
But I’ve got high hopes for GT5 so the nearer to Christmas its release is the better that is for me. Then I’ll put some serious miles in on that over new year.

I think we’ll see a September release now for GT5 since the guys at PD have been waiting for this one to show it’s hand first.

It’s a nice move to have a game come out over here before america. hopefully a trend that will continue with other upcoming releases on certain other consoles…

Why not a simultaneous worldwide release? Then everyone wins!

Note it’s a European release date. The actual date of release in different countries in Europe can vary by a few days from that date.

If it’s possible to do so without descending into a fanboy flame war, can someone give me a brief outline of the advantages of Forza over GT? I love Gran Turismo but want to know if Forza 3 is likely to offer anything over GT5 or should I just wait?

Extremely versatile car livery designer. Some of the designs people have produced are utterly incredible.
Trade/buy/sell/give away livery designs.
A strong web community integrated with the game.
Forza can be easier to to get into as you can tweak it to be closer to an arcade racer to begin with. Then dial up the realism as you get better.

Great reply, thanks.
I think I’ll just hold for GT then. The accessibility doesn’t bother me as its the realism/difficulty that I most appreciate. The livery thing does sound pretty awesome though, customisation has always been a letdown of GT

Hi all, new here, lurked for a while prior to “Sony cutoff” Noticing now it’s 360 + PS3. Good luck.
In terms of Forza 3’s release date, Kotaku have received a different script than all the other sites, so I think they may have received an email/comfirmation with a typo.
Che Chou, the community manager for Turn 10 stated just post E3 that the release date would be 23rd October, a typical Friday release date.

No worries. I’m quite active in the Forza community, and usually know my stuff (please note the word usually, in case anything comes back to bite me on the butt)

Well they’ve shown Sony how its done aint they?
Only announced it this year and its gonna be out the door this year!
Got no intentions of buying this (my money shall go to GT5) but I’d like to think both GT5 and Forza3 wont be too far apart.

I welcome some true competition to GT. I get the impression Polyphony/Sony have got a little too comfortable in the driving simulation genre since GT3. A gentle reminder that they need to stay on top of their game is no bad thing

Does this mean that both Uncharted 2 and Forza 3 are out on the same day in the UK?
That will be a good week for us gamers!!

No, they’ll leave clear space around the release of GT-PSP so the two titles don’t cannibalise each others sales.
