It looks like we’re only a small step away from an official Sony press release on this - but class it as a rumour just now. From next Monday, according to the link below, several European retailers will reduce the price of the PlayStation 3 to 299€ (including a game), with some already jumping the gun and some already at 249€.

The thread linked below also has ‘almost confirmation‘ that the price drop is to make way for the Slim, which will land at the end of August (currently the 30th) and retail for 399€.  We’ve also heard that some retailers are ‘out of stock’ just now, and awaiting a new model.  We’re just about to contact SCEE on this for a comment…

Update: SCEE have responded with “we don’t comment on rumour and speculation” as expected.

Tip: GAF.

  1. I might (probably will) buy one for the study if this happens. :)

    • You won’t do much studying…

  2. I bet they have that as an auto-reply.

    • believe me scee have thousands of those stock replies ready to be copy and pasted, for just about any situation, saves them ever having to actually read their mail.

      • when you talk to scee it feels like you’re talking to one of those ai programs that is supposed to simulate a conversation but you can tell it’s only picking up on certain words you’ve used when it answers.
like if you said “time is relative” it would probably ask about your mother.
that’s what it’s like trying to communicate with anybody, or should that be anything, at scee.

  3. See, Sony is already utilizing “NATAL” technology…har har har!
