Some beautiful screens from the Co-Op mode of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 just came out from under their embargo. If you haven’t seen the video you can look at it here. It’s looking very pretty indeed so I’ll let you stop reading and get to them.

Definately looks interesting, however I own a 360 so won’t be getting this. Co-op seems like a good idea for a challenge mode only, encorporating it into campaign however, would not be such a good idea if they ever considered it….

I don’t like the look of gameplay it just looks like you swing your sword and hope it hits but the graphics are pretty dam good. I have one question though. Why does every japanese game have scantly clad women? I know they are there to for fill every geeks dream of having a super model sick kick who happens to be a ninja but whats the point really? (if this was any other site i would be met with a storm of comments calling me gay)

you’ve answered your own question: They’re there because the geeky boys love them and will buy the game just to perve and the normal folk amongst us just sigh and roll our eyes.
It also gets the game a lot more media attention before launch. Just keep an eye out for the “Top ten gaming babes” lists that get stupid amounts of hits from N4G. They appear just about every day and thousands of repressed pre-pubescent boys scan through them in the hope of catching a glimpse of the outline of a nipple.
So in short: Sex sells.

At its basic level, it *is* about swinging your sword, but the combo system is really deep, and the enemies are rock hard, so that you cant just go through the game using one move, you really need to learn the moves and use different tactics. Also, its so well balanced that it makes you feel like you’ve really earned every new level you reach..
Of course, Im talking about the first one here, but I assume the same is true of this one.

I actually dislike the outfits they gave them in this game. Ayane looked much better in the DOA games and the other two just dont leave much to the imagination. I miss the old days I guess. Sure, Lara had ridiculous proportions, but at least her clothes were functional…
After seeing Faith in Mirror’s Edge last year, I thought gaming might have been turning a corner.
Also +1 on not judging NG by its cover. It is a deep fighting system and has more than enough challenge even for devout gamers.

As much as I cant wait for this game, Im not sure if Co-op is something I want to try out. I played the original to death, but never found myself wanting an ally to be there.. They’d probably just get in the way.

I’ll get it for the insane difficulty spikes. I miss DMC3’s DMD mode kicking my arse everywhere.

What age rating will this have? An 18 I presume?

Considering the blood in the first one, and the fact that you can cut off limbs in this one, I’d say its almost definitely going to be an 18 cert..
