New Old EA Trademarks

EA file trademarks for some stuff they already own the trademark on.

Confusing title huh? Well, it’s kind of a confusing story. News from Superannuation is that EA have filed new trademarks for some of their old properties. The titles in question are Populous, one of the original “God-sims”; Theme Park, a funfair construction sim; Wing Commander, which was a space combat and trading game and Road Rash, which was the greatest motorcycle game ever.

The implications of this are that EA are intending to revisit these classic old IPs with new versions. That is certainly the hope, however, this might be a case of EA just renewing and reaffirming their ownership of some valuable trademarks.
