We’ve just been told Trine will be available for download on the European PSN Store on September 17th. Finnish game developer Frozenbyte and French publisher Nobilis Publishing are proud to announce the European release of Trine™ for the PlayStation 3 on the PlayStation Store.
Trine™ is a fantasy action / platform game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies. Three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil and the player can at any time freely choose whoever is best suited for the upcoming challenge or puzzle.
Trine™ has full support for Trophies and also features a Platinum Trophy as the ultimate reward.

Ah excellent. Any idea how much it costs?

I think it was £11.99 if I remember rightly. Any pricier and its a 100% no buy fro me, tried it on PC and it was a bit more than OK at best.

Excellent game to be fair, but cannot help but fear the price will hurt it’s sales. The inclusion of online co-op (which the 360 version is supposedly getting) would have gone a long way towards justifying the price in my opinion.

t has co-op doesn’t it? Only locally though?

At £16.99 its massively cheaper than any retail game – An absolute bargain!
You do know this is a retail quality and sized game, and not something akin to noby noby boy don’t you?

Yeah yeah I know the spiel about it being a retail game. But I played an hour or so on PC and felt a bit mediocre about the whole experience.

Not so sure about the retail size and quality bit, it’s eight hours long at a push with little or no replay value. Brilliant game like I said, but the price is a little steep (even more expensive on PC though!).

8 hours?
So longer than inFAMOUS, CoD and many others then?

CC has a good point. 8 hours for £16.99 is incredible value compared to so many of the big titles. Lets take Batman. Wonderful game. VERY short. I had done everything except push my scores higher in the challenge modes (i.e. I got the Platinum trophy) by the end of about 12 hours. That’s a £39.99 game. Trine’s £/per hour ratio is much better here.
That said, if the quality of the product isn’t great, I can understand people’s misgivings.

Excellent :) I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. I hope there’s a demo to try it out first though, as I’ve only seen trailers for it so far (which look great!!)

Aye! I myself am not into sidescrollers (apart from LBP) but whith all of the hype and the seemingly interesting videos I’ve seen, I would really like to try this out.

Hmm a platinum trophy is definitely uncommon, but not unwelcome :D

yeah co-op’s there – one review i saw said that it kind of made the game less fun though……you just stroll thru the levels literally taking turns using your special power to pass obstacles.
i think they felt the best game mechanic ( switching roles mid action ) was erased with co-op.
im holding off at that price.

Hopefully there’s a demo, I have no idea what to expect from this, and at the price it’s gonna be I’m not gonna buy it on impulse!

If you have a PC, there’s a demo – just get it off Steam, it is quite graphically demanding though so you’ll need a reasonable setup

I have a Mac that can only just play Sims 3 on high settings, I’ll hold out for a demo on the PS3 I think!

I may have thought twice about getting Trine, but now that I can get cheaper credit on PSN(Thanks Zavvi!), I guess it might be worth a chance. No hope of a demo, is there?
