The SSX franchise was ridiculously popular and it was a bit of a shock when EA killed it off when they decided that the EA Sports Big brand had ran its course, but if you’ve been missing a bit of mountain action then good news may be on the horizon. Alain Tascan from EA Montreal was asked “Looking at some of your other franchises, are we going to see another SSX?” to which he replied “Ah, SSX. We have a big catalogue and we were talking about what people like. I think this is something we will look at in the future to see if it makes sense to revive the franchise.”
Then, when asked “Well, SSX was a very popular franchise and has a lot of fans – at the moment do you think there’s sense in bringing it back?” He went on to say “It’s a little bit early to talk about it, but I feel… I know internally it is a franchise that people love because it was successful and good, and it reminds me of when we were young, and I feel if the market is there and is ready for a new one then we’ll consider it.”
So it appears that if people demand it then there is every chance of the franchise making a comeback, In the comments below let us know what franchises you’d like to see being given the next gen treatment, my votes on Road Rash.

The original SSX is what made me want a PS2 and was the 1st game I ever played on the system. Didn’t buy Trricky as it was meant to be tweak rather than a full blown sequel and I couldn’t justify the cost but SSX 3 was great too. I bought On Tour a couple of years ago new when I saw it cheap but I’ve still not played it!!! I also demand Road Rash in HD.

has to be SSX2 if any of them are remade, but a new game would obviously be best.

I had many fun nights with SSX Tricky. It was an incredible game and I have been waiting for an SSX game on the PS3 for some time.

SSX 3 is a great game, so i’d hope for a follow up to that. But if it’s anything like the shite SSX that was released on the wii… then i’ll avoid it.

I know I’ve heard rumblings of it being worked on under a codename, but I’d love to see a remake of Syndicate…

Oh god please release a new SSX or at least re-release the older ones. I was talking to my housemates about how immense these games were and that I couldn’t believe that EA had dropped it.
Psy-mon? What a character! My favourite move in the whole game was “The Guillotine”. What an incredibly overblown game! So fun!

SSX Tricky was superb. The soundtrack a killer. The over-the-top stunts were truly spectacular. Some of the course designs were a thing of beauty. If they don’t feel there’s much room for progression or evolution in the franchise then a smartened up version on the PSN is surely the answer. I’d throw down twenty sheets for a new version.

I loved SSX3. Killing the franchise was a bit of a strange move.

I too demand SSX on the PS3. So get to work lads!
An HD remake of Tricky and 3 on a single disc a la GoW would actually be a very good move.
