The new addition to the Singstar range comes with two wired mics, packaged like a Singstar game (complete with the Singstar name embossed in the plastic) so it must be a Singstar game, right? If that is the case, why is it ”compatible with both the standard Rock Band drums and guitar” and why does the case holding the game clearly show Rockband and not mention Singstar at all?
Just to add to the confusion, MCV are reporting that the game (with its Singstar Mics and packaging) will be published by MTV Games and EA not Sony.
Logically, this Frankenstein of a release is going to be just a repackaged Beatles Rockband and all the publishers have done is slapped it in that impossible to open Singstar packaging. This would solve the problem of not having any decent quality videos of The Beatles that would of been required if this a ‘proper’ Singstar title. A plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox.

well this is interesting. Can you use the microphones for Singstar for Rockband. I have two wireless mics and was going to get Rockband and wondered if they would work with it aswell? Any ideas?

You can, I bought a cheap copy of Rockband last week, despite not owning a single fake plastic instrument. My Singstar mic worked fine (only the blue one though, as I don’t believe RB1 or 2 support multiple mics). I had to up the sensitivity settings within the game, but it worked a treat.

Bah… Wish they had announced this earlier.
Already had the gh:wt band-kit, so bought the Solus-version of Beatles: RB on release-day. BUT… since I won a Singstar-game (without mics) a couple of months ago, I picked up some wireless mics at the same time to use in both Beatles & Singstar.
Could have saved me some wonga there.

Correction: A little research shows that these are actually wired mics.

My wireless mics *do* work with Rockband: Beatles.
It’s just that the article says this repackaging includes wireless mics, when they actually are wired. It can be seen both in the picture and read in the two articles referenced

My understanding is that the wireless singstar mics still have a USB box (just like the wired ones do), so I would imagine that the game can’t actually tell the difference.
I’m 95% sure there was no update to Singstar to let it recognise the wireless mics, so from the PS3 point of view, there is no difference.
By extension, as Rockband recognises wired Singstar mics, I see no reason at all why it wouldnt recognise the wireless ones.

It will use MORE than TWO MICS!! One of the main differences is Rockband Beatles has Three-part harmony. Three players singing at the same time; harmonizing…
