Bioshock 2 will be arriving on February the 9th. Every console. Every market. It’s unfortunate that I feel compelled to write at least 100 words before publishing an article because this one required only 12 and as a result would look horrendously lazy if left on its own. So to fill the space I’ll remind you casually of other details focused around the game.

Bioshock 2 is set ten years after the events of the first game with Rapture having fallen under the control of the “big sister”, one of the little sisters from the original game. Seaside towns around the Atlantic are reporting that an incredibly fast and thin attacker, wearing red lights, has been kidnapping little girls and is seen heading into the sea. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s an incredibly scary image. If I was a young girl from a seaside town which shares it’s shores with the Atlantic (actually, I almost am), I would hate to be snapped out of my bed, in the dead of night, and carried off by this into the ocean.

I didn’t really like the first game and in truth thought that the backstory was much more intriguing than the actual events you played yourself. Once again, there’s an incredibly interesting back story to set us up, but I’m hoping this time that the story in the city can outdo that of the backdrop. You play as a Big Daddy this time which should mix things up a bit and you can also engage in a bit of multiplayer action this time round too.

Oh look at the word count! I must be off.

Comments

Please note that all comments are the opinion of the individual author and not TheSixthAxis.

  1. Bioshock one failed to immerse me. I feel I will skip this one

    • Same as me here
Maybe give this one a try, rent it a day or two

      • not even going to rent it

      • Bioshock one totally immersed me, one of my favorite games.

        meh, different tastes.

  2. I’m still to finish #1 so I must get my act together before this is out. considering the xmas lineup, I don’t know if I’ll have time….

    • The first half of the game is a lot better than the second.
I enjoyed Bioshock thoroughly and will definately be purchasing the second installment

  3. I’ll definitely be getting this for PC. The first one was an incredible masterpiece, and I’m sure this will be at least good.

  4. If they don’t fuck up the PS3 port, I’ll be getting the PS3 version or else it’s PC for me.

    • I wouldn’t worry. I’ve been through the PS3 and 360 versions of the original twice a piece, and both are pretty much identical. Well… besides the ridiculously sized 5 GB install on the PS3 version of course.

No reason 2 shouldn’t end up similarly well put together.

      • Glad to here, never played Bioshock on the PS3, has been closed buying itthough, but played twice on the PC, so it would be silly.

  5. I did enjoy Bishock and will probably get it.although at times I felt it became a bit repetative,

  6. Bioshock was a great game. I hope this is just as good.

  7. Every console? Whaaaaat?

    • 360, PS3 and PC.
Unless I’m missing something wouldn’t have thought that was particularly confusing.

      • What of the biggest selling ‘next-gen’ console, the Wii? Or dare I say it, the PS2?

  8. I’m ever so glad I’m not a little girl from a seaside town.

    • I’m glad you’re not one as well.

  9. Knew about this 3-4days ago….suppose I should have sent in a tip.

    • I did, but sometimes they just push news to more calmer times, so they properly knew about it :)

      • Yeah, that explains it then. I also sent in a tip 2 or 3 days ago. :)

      • They seem to be pretty good on top of new stories, plus they don’t give out points anymore for news tips, so don’t be surprised :)

      • Yes we do, it’s just that I’ve got a massive backlog.

      • Oh okay, my bad. Maybe you should consider some kind of system, shouldn’t be hard to add an box, where you can input nicks who should get points for the news tip, when you create a new news posting.

    • Yeah, sorry, I was away over the weekend and just looked through the weekends news and decided this seemed exciting enough to warrant a post.

  10. I very nearly finished the first one (got a YLOD literally just before the final boss battle) and loved it (the game, not the YLOD), so I’ll definitley be picking this up..

    • Haha, oh yeah I love YLOD´s. Hope I get another one tomorrow :P

      • bahhaha me too :p

  11. I never got around to playing the first game, even though I know it’s highly rated. Might try and pick it up and give it a playthrough before deciding on whether to get the sequel. I should be able to pick up the original fairly cheaply now as well !! ;)

  12. the first one was ground breaking when it was released with its graphics, atmosphere and story.

i hope this one can live up to the expectations

  13. Having recently-ish Platinumed the first Bioshock I’m pretty excited for this, hopefully they can keep a similar difficulty level as Survivor, that was just great.

    • well done on platinuming btw

  14. I sent in a news tip about this 2days ago. :(
Can’t wait for this game, glad it’s not out this year, too many games to buy already.

    • I’m going to find alot of spare cash for all the great game

    • We don’t all get to see the tips sorry.
Also, I was away for the weekend which accounts for the delay in reporting :)
I’ll give you a thumbs up though!
      *thumbs up*

  15. moih not going to buy this one i thought bioshock was pretty good but still….. there are too many games that i wanna buy and there much better than bioshock 2!
