It was at E3 a few months ago that Sony first showed off the PS3 Motion Controller, since then there has been a trickle of ‘show and tell’ sessions in the style of developer diaries. One thing all of these videos had in common is that they featured the motion controller in ‘static screen’ scenarios showing off the ability to manipulate the onscreen environments, obviously these were all just tech demos and didn’t show the controller off in real world games, but earlier today we got the chance to see thePS3 Motion Controller in use in LittleBigPlanet, which opened up some fantastic co-op possibilities. Now it’s the turn of Capcom’s Resident Evil 5, as you can see this requires the player to hold their SixAxis/DualShock 3 in one hand and the motion controller in the other.

I’ve just tried holding my DualShock 3 in one hand and it feels a bit unweildy and lacks the elegance of a genuine Sony solution, in my opinion if the Motion Controller needs a nunchuck like apendage or more buttons on the actual controller itself then they should have implemented it, after all they’ve been telling us that this is a manufacturing prototype ever since it was announced. Have a look in the clip below and lets us know what you think in the comments below, you might want to fastforward to the 2:30 mark unless you either speak Japanese, or have an unhealthy obsession with Powerpoint slides.
