First PSN Game To Close Down Its Online

Calling All Cars goes local multiplayer only soon.

Calling All Cars, David Jaffe’s “high-octane, fast action game of cops n’ robbers” was probably the first US PSN game I downloaded, and although I only ever played a couple of games online I did think it was rather good fun offline, at least back then when PSN game releases were rather sparse.

Sadly, it appears that Calling All Cars will lose its online functionality at the beginning of next year (January 14th, 2010, to be exact) and after that you won’t be able to play online with anyone else, leaving the game purely for offline play, which, I think, is the first PSN title to do this.

Not a great loss, sure, but we at least know that Sony has the option to do this with older titles if it needs to.
