Presumably the artists get royalties when their tracks are sold on the SingStore. That being the case, Evanescence must be doing quite well from their two tracks My Immortal and Bring Me To Life which have maintained an almost constant presence on the monthly SingStore Top 20 list since it was first published in May. My Immortal has charted every month and Bring Me To Life has appeared in four out of five top 20s.
I am partly responsible for some of the new entries from tracks that became available in SingStar’s September update, including Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations who are notable for being the first multi-racial band to have a number one hit in the UK. Having that on SingStar means I no longer need to dig out my There’s Something About Mary DVD for the karaoke version that is amongst that disc’s extras.
The other late 60′s track from that update that I downloaded is sung by Mary O’Brien’s, better known as Dusty Springfield. Son Of A Preacher Man, originally a hit back in ’69, was re-popularised (I checked, that is a word) by it’s inclusion in the awesome Pulp Fiction.
Have you got a favourite song from a film that you would like to see up on the SingStore?

When will we be able to download any song we want to instead of waiting for them to update? Sinceless to me.

*senseless*
Singstar would have to gain permission for every song in the world and create contracts for royalties (assuming they get royalties) aswell as actually program them into the game. So basically, never.

I don’t get how that would work. They would need to do the pitch and the lyrics for every song ever made and have it remove the actual singer for it to work as a game.

Couldn’t they stream them? Spotify and Vidzone style?
