Have you ever wondered where game characters learn their skills? You haven’t? Oh, well this is embarrassing. Still, you’ll be interested in this. The latest man to front the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as you all know by now, is Ezio; and he can do all manner of things. But  how did he get to be so talented?

In a new video, released by Ubisoft, we get to see the ways in which Ezio will learn to murder and stalk. Assassin’s Creed 2 will contain Factions; Factions that you join in order to be taught specific traits. For example, if Ezio allies himself with the ‘Courtesans’ (prostitutes), they will teach him how to sneak through the towns and villages. Then there are the ‘Mercenaries’, who will teach Ezio the good stuff; fighting and murdering.

There are apparently a few factions within the game and each one will be beneficial to Ezio as he attempts to slaughter lots of Europeans…Oh and do you like Renaissance music? That may seem like a random question but if the answer is no, you may want to carry on watching the video beyond the 2:38 mark. Made me chuckle!

  1. I’m liking the features that the game is adding in and liked the original, but the more I see of this game the more I’m going off it for some reason. The Saboteur instead is turning my head.

    • I’m not overly fussed about it either but I do like the fact that you will learn the different elements rather than them being available from the start or coveniently becoming doable as you progress.

      • The training mechanism from the first one has been replaced by this then, I presume.

The ‘aligning’ probably means going to a place on a map, watching a cut scene, and then you’ll ‘gain’ the ability, rather than dropping out the window and going to a sparring ring to gain the ability.

      • It would appear so, although I don’t know. I played the first one for all of about 10 minutes and never touched it since. I’m not a fan! :D

    • That’s funny…the more I see of AC2, the more I’m looking forward to it!! ;)

I’m looking forward to The Saboteur as well though!!

  2. It looks good, and the progression looks well-thought out and intuitive – but for us fans of the first AC, I’m now concerned that it could be annoying to have to learn from scratch both the skills we learned before, and even more basic skills…
    Hm.
Still looking forward to it like crazy, though!

  3. ASSASSINS CREED!!!!!!!!
    ….
    beautiful.

  4. 0:54-0:56.
Hate that part! Will the guards be looking at the prostitutes so Ezio can pass unseen?? That’s so unrealistic and blatant, not fitting in at all! I would have thought this game will be deeper and more realistic, not like ACI, which allowed you to shake off guards by “disappearing” into conveniently placed straw heaps and by unleashing bands of unarmed thugs to fight trained soldiers…

    • Many a time I’ve nearly rear-ended someone (choice words!) when oggling some gorgeous girl. Why can’t they look at whores? Prude! :D

  5. This is definitely gonna be on my to buy list but is it me or do some of the graphics, particularly around the thieves faction section look a bit pants?

    • Doesn’t look as polished as I was expecting.

  6. Am i the only 1 really looking forward to this game more than MW2 and UC2 this year

    • Maybe not the only one, but not far off it. :)

    • Well, you can add me to that list!! ;)

I’m not particularly interested in MW2, and whilst I loved UC2, there’s just something about AC2 that has caught my imagination for some reason!!

      • Exactly how i feel BBB there is just something about the game that makes me want it
        I cant explain it

I may have to break my rule of never buying a ps3 game unless its under £20 for this

  7. Wow this just made me wanna buy the game even more! Graphics were kind of slacking though..

  8. Man I so can’t wait to get my hands on this game aswell as Dragon Age Origins which I assume is out on the same date for the PS3 as it is now out on the 360 I think. They are looking great.

  9. Love the faction system and the training mechanic it adds. I think it might add a little bit more depth and attachment to Ezio, you’re actually playing through his ‘journey’ and learning the skills with him.

  10. the games just going to be massive. And its a couple of weeks ahead of my birthday! I know what I’m asking for!

    • God bless birthdays around game release days

Round of applause for our biological parents with such excellent planning

  11. game will be in my collection

  12. Looks amazing, but i think ill get this from love film before i buy it…
