I tried the demo and I must admit, I found the combat a little less satisfying having now played Arkham Asylum but I really enjoyed the demo, the sense of scale is superb.

I loved the demo and its completely sold me on the full game, the only part I didnt like was the harpie hijacking (specifically the first one) jumping from one harpie to the other to get across the gap took me ages and was so frustrating.. Hardly a game breaker tho.

Welcome! Nice ’second opinion’ of the demo. I can also vouch for the quality of the first GoW (tohugh not GoW2 as I never played that) – it’s a superb game no matter if you’re a fan of hack ‘n slash or not.

Ok, fair enough.
Thank you for the enlightment. I suppose the cinematic experience does pretty much make the game what it is. I guess I will just need to try and get used to not having a manual camera.

i played it only once then deleted it.. reason was its the same as the previous games which was ok but nothing special… for me was same old same old.. another was the grabing .. while kratos grabed the undead which was cool all his buddys just watches him die ..?? also when i reached helios i defeated all enimies exept 1 or 2 i went to rip his head off but had to defeat the remaining guys left which i thought was silly as they where hiding in the corner… but i think if you have never played the gow series then this is a really good game to get. but i have finished them all an i thought its just the same..

Seriously? Then it would just be similar to thousand games developed with the Unreal Engine, where the best you could hope for is something like Wolverine?

if you have played the 2 games before hand (looks like most people havent) everything will make much more sense, i.e. the platforming and the flying. and gow does have a reputation for the best camera angles in game, you never need to be able to change them. play the first 2 games and you will understand

I actually had a few reservations with the demo myself. I liked how big, loud and nasty the whole thing is, sure, but the gameplay was pretty much identical to the first two games. Not saying that’s bad, but the fixed camera and all just makes the whole thing feel a tad dated, and you can bet your ass reviewers will be quick to mark it down for this reason alone when it comes out. Also, the use of rumble as a gameplay mechanic for using Helios’ head seemed a bit of an oversight… what about people using the old Sixaxis? How they gonna find those hidden areas?

Don’t mean to bitch, especially since it’s still a fun game to play definitely, but from early impressions I can’t see it bettering Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 at this point.

SONY Santa Monica have chosen the best camera for all times, keeping it cinematic.
