Rain, cold, queuing and tireness; that’s what I had to go through this morning to pick up my copy of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2, but if you’re one of the lucky sites to have gotten a copy from Activision already (have I mentioned this before?) you’ll already have your review up and on Metacritic as the embargo ended this morning. The scores are hugely impressive across the board – the PS3 version is averaging 97%, the Xbox 360 version 96%.
Too close to call? Perhaps – we’ll sort out at this end who’s doing the review but I believe Liam’s already played hours of it so hopefully he’ll be able to get something up on TSA today. In the meantime, we want to know what you think at this early stage in the comments – drop in a score if you’ve played the game and we’ll do our own little meta-score of this generation’s most anticipated first person shooter so far.
And I promise not to moan at your scores.

97% for PS3? wow. Glad I got that version
That 1% should make all the difference. Im intrigued by the game more than desperate to play it – I want to see what all the fuss is about – glad I decided to take the plunge now…..

The guy from UKMail/Shopto can’t turn up soon enough this morning! I’m working from home and don’t have any conference calls until midday so the sooner he gets here the more play time I get…
More excited for the multiplayer than the single player, though I’ll go all the way through the campaign just like on COD4. I hope the new ‘Sabotage’ game type is as good as the last iteration. It kept me going on multiplayer for a year and a half!

Anyone else heard if a patch is coming out to counteract the update that was released for the game yesterday (i heard it disables trophies if you choose to update the game)????

I don’t have trophies either, but it’s not the update. I think IW is pissed about the early release and I heard a rumor that they’re going to reset the leaderboards. I’m positive that it has to do with IW or sony servers since it’s a wide spread thing. Are you in the states? because it seems everybody that got it at midnight is without trophies. I’m thinking sometime today the problem will magically disappear.

At 4:00 my MW2 trophies just appeared, I expect everybodys elses did too, if not just re-download the update.

No, UK. Have got trophies fine, but didn’t d’load update. I heard that if you updated, you don’t get the trophies, and you have to play through the level again (once repatched) to get the trophy. I’ll d’load update tonight.

I also just heard from my mate that the Asda near me has sold out of 360 versions and only had a few PS3 versions left, and I live in Northamptonshire, hardly Metropolis

Northamptonshire woop woop! lol
I live there, well I don’t, I’m at uni at the moment, but my home is there. Horrible place but it’s nice to see someone else from there lol
Anyway, a lot of the people I know at uni went to ASDA’s midnight launch and they said that even though the queue was massive, no one had any problems getting it. Not sure how many copies are left now though.

I’ve almost completed it and played and hour or two online. It’s great, as expected. Don’t like how you are flung about the story so much though, from this part of the world to here.

Having played both versions, it’s clear to me the PS3 version has the slight edge. No install, quicker loading times, slightly better textures and lighting effects and a more solid framerate.

Got the Prestige Edition yesterday. Enjoying the SP but the story is a bit disjointed. Played a few games of MP team death match and I’m loving the new maps and kill streaks. Very very addictive. The one thing that is really annoying is all the jam that gets smeared over the screen.
9/10 so far.

I’ll probably get to play the game later. After hearing about the prices from sainsburys and that, my interest in it returned. I’m just hoping that it’s £32 in tesco…..

Got my copy for £26 at Sainsburys in Norwich. They sold out of both versions within about 30/40min. They said they had 200 copies (not sure if that was per platform or not) but they were hoping for more stock later today.
Problem for me is I’m out tonight and at work right night. Won’t get to play MW2 til tomorrow.

Like me!
Coincidentally, I am still joining everyone is fretting over packages and such. I was supposed to get a parcel delivered but the ParcelForce man had managed to write his “We called to deliver your parcel” and run away before I could unlock the door. Seriously, he was like 5 seconds. Now I have to go to the post office to get my beloved Dalek War DVDs.

I wasn’t going to but at £26 I thought I’ll give it a go and if I’m not keen on it I sell it to my brother or trade it in against Ratchet and Clank.

I actually think the people buying it at Supermarket price will send as strong a message as the price boycotters.

Same as, until I saw the price I can get it at. If I cant get a supermarket price im leaving it. Its not worth 45.
