I recieved an e-mail from Ubisoft today which reveals that Assassin’s Creed 2 will be the first game to incorporate the company’s bonus scheme called ‘Uplay’. The reward system, which is currently running in Beta mode, is designed to give players extra, exclusive content to help them in-game.

As you progress through Assassin’s Creed 2 and complete certain missions or actions you will be rewarded ‘Units’, which you can then trade in for extra content such as weapons, ammo and maps. These rewards will only be available to Uplay members and they will be for the three major platforms: PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. So, complete a particularly tricky puzzle in Assassin’s Creed 2 and you could find yourself with enough Units to purchase a new outfit for your assassin.

You can log on to to the Uplay system via your console or via the website to claim your rewards. There will be varying content depending on the amount of Units you wish to spend; for example, a PS3 premium theme may cost you 10 units, but extra weaponry may cost you 40 units. You can of course save your units so it might be wise to see what’s on offer before you cash in.

At the moment, due to its Beta status, only the ‘Win’ scheme is available but Ubisoft say that more is to come. As mentioned, it all kicks off with Assassin’s Creed 2 but Splinter Cell Conviction and R.U.S.E are also going to be including the Uplay reward scheme with more and more games to follow.

You can get all the details and sign up to the Uplay scheme via the website. If this works as it’s supposed to, this could be a very interesting thing to be a part of.

  1. I’d like to clarify something regarding news tips. Can we send them in via Twitter? Because I tweeted this with the #TSANewsTip. I’d just like to know whether we can do this.

    • I can’t confirm it, but it’s best to send it in via email. We all get the emails and check our email most of the day (especially those fancy sods with their smart phones and what not). Best way to do it, and best way of us keeping track of things. Also not every member of staff uses Twitter, so email is the way to go.

  2. i signed up this morning after i recieved the email, how do i get my hands on that ac2 theme, do i need to wait for the game and do it in game?

    • You have to earn your points first but it says you can access everything from your console.

      • you get 10 points for signing up which is how much it costs for the theme

      • kool just signed up

  3. Yeah I got the e-mail this morning about Uplay… Looks interesteing

  4. Theres some very nice stuff to claim – Theres a Auditore Family Crypt DLC for ACII!

    • Ooooo you can pay for real DLC with it, not just themes and crap. Awesome.

      • Yeah, all exclusive stuff. Theres a Altair Outfit, Throwing Knifes upgrade, so on.

      • This actually sounds like a great idea in that case :)

      • Sure does :D cant wait

      • Can’t wait ’til Friday!!

  5. Sony needs to do something similar, make those trophies really count :)

    • Exactly. And not just some crappy Home T-shirt saying ‘I got X platinums’.

    • we can only hope they’ll look at this and learn

    • A trophy reward scheme would be great, giving you that extra incentive to try for a platinum!!

  6. Congrats! you have just earned enough Uplay points to get yourself a PS3 version of Splinter Cell.

    Like it already.

  7. I think this is a great idea, especially if they let you save up points cross game, and if they give you some extra points to participate in surveys, etc.
    Good on ya, Ubi!

    • I get the impression that the points are carried over. It is a good scheme.

  8. I’d prefer Nectar points to be honest. You can buy Cadburys Caramel bars then.

    • I should have bet with someone. As I wrote I said to myself, “shall I put something about Nectar points and TC in there or just wait for him to comment?”

      :D

  9. i hate it when fragmented stuff like this is done. i wish for more crosstalk between publishers, manufactuers, etc, etc

  10. also, “Uplay”. terrible name.

  11. Bring on friday

    Goodbye MW2
    Hello AC2

  12. Got this email today too. I need to decide between AC2 and UC2 for xmas…
