We have known that VidZone was rolling out to 11 more countries since August and now we finally have the dates. Over on the EU Blog VidZone’s Head of Production, Ben Creasey, has listed the three dates that bring to service to the new countries.
Ben cautions new users that the first time they start VidZone it may take as long as fifteen minutes to update the videos and playlists. Compare that to the couple of minutes it took when the service first launched and you get some idea of how much more content there now is.
He also took the time to hang around the comments for several hours. Here are the more interesting things that came up in his responses:

Welcome to TSA. Just out of interest, what other PS3/PSN features don’t you have access to in Greece?

Jippie..
p.s. on my ‘old’ Windows Mediacenter I had a menu option you could get a personal ‘concert’ they had a few video streams that where specially created for home-viewing. You could use it when you had a party. Are these kind of personalised streams available in VidZone?

You can build and save personal playlists from the videos available. Is that what you mean by personalised stream?

YES! The 26th in the Netherlands. Finally. I am really looking forward to this service! Let’s hope the licensing won’t be too much of a pain in the ass so we will also get all the vids from around the world.

Hey all. Ben from VidZone here… Thanks for all the great press you are giving us. I especially like you highlighting my comments, shows i’m not replying in vain. Hope we can work together to help enlighten people to everything VidZone now and in the future.
Thanks! Ben C,

good to see vidzone really getting out there, i don’t often use it because of the load times to launch it but how can you complain when it’s a free service?

If you used it more often the load times would be shorter as there’d be less to update.

On the question about what the Greek users don’t have it is quite a lot. There’s no Greek Singstore, no Greek fonts on the PS3 or Greek language option on the system. As far as I’m aware there’s not a single game in existance with a Greek language option. The Greek PS store is pretty limited too. To add insult to injury the system sold at a massively increased price (even compared to the UK’s) at launch and, even now, games cost in the region of £55-60 each!! I speak from experience as we bought the wife’s father (Greek) a PS3 for Blu-ray movies when he retired and, surprisingly, after never having picked up a controller in his life, he’s a massive gamer now! We have to send him all the games because of the price difference and then explain them to him as his English can be limited, on the plus side we bought him a PS Eye and it’s great for video chat!!
