If you’ve watched the trailer for Just Cause 2, you have to be a little bit excited. The grapple-shoot-fly-drive-’em-up is being developed by Avalanche again and published by Square Enix Europe; although it will still carry the Eidos name, too.
Square Enix Europe have revealed the official UK release date for Just Cause 2 as March 26th 2010. The game will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The game is set on a tropical island in South East Asia with over 1000Km2 to explore. If you are unsure of what Just Cause is or what Just Cause allows you to do, then here’s the marketing spiel as said by Square Enix London Studios’ general manager Lee Singleton:
Just Cause 2 offers the freedom to explore and tackle the world in any way you choose…The grapple and the parachute mechanic will change the way you play open-world games, allowing players to be in the air in seconds, tackling missions from above and using the aerial advantage. If you prefer to stay on solid ground, the choices offered by the grapple are limited only by your imagination.
Thanks, MCVUK

It’s pretty high on my list of games to keep an eye on. A game that has a logo which is not just a scorpion but a scorpion MADE OF GUNS has to be worth watching, right?

Right!
The First game was really enjoyable and the grapple gun was very fun to use and was something new that I hadn’t experienced before and JC2 looks 10 times better.

Really liked the game elements of the first game [i.e. grapple, big area, jumping cars], so now its on next gen consoles, hopefully, it will be much better

Just Cause 1 was on the 360. It was far superior to the PS2 version (obviously).

It was very much a transitional-generation game though wasn’t it? I mean I think they held a lot back from the 360 version so that they could also release a similar package on the PS2.
The full-fledged next gen nature of this plus the extra development time and the apparent use of pharmacutical-grade amphetemines in the dev studio hint that this could be so crazy it’s actually made of win. Well, the bits that aren’t MADE OF GUNS, obviously.

I remember it so vividly because it was the first ‘next-gen’ game I played. Whilst that accolade always goes to Gears of War, I now remember it being JC. I had it for PS2 and the difference was amazing. But yes, you and Charmed_Fanatic are right (I am wrong sometimes); this will be so much better as a true next-gen game. I hope the Ltd edition comes with a case MADE OF GUNS!

This seems like the game that Merc’s should have been.
This is high on my watch list for the crowded March release window…. i already have GT, BFBC2 and this for March…. expensive! Looks very polished and fun to play.

Holy crap – March
Do you realise how many AAA titles are due out then, way more than there is this Christmas period.

1st one was all right bery repetitive though (I hate it and it gets boring quickly) but I have completed it and it was a fun game back then. I hope JC2 will be bigger and better just like they did with AC2 that was so much better than the 1st

I’ve somehow managed to miss anything ever about Just Cause 1 or 2. I’ve really got my finger on the gaming pulse, you know?

I’m looking forward to this. Next March is shaping up to be an expensive month for me, what with this, Bad Company 2 and possibly GT5 !!
