Tron Teaser Trailer

Classic film franchise to get video game.
Article written by Gastos84 in PS3 News, on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 13:00.

Greetings, programs! There have been rumblings of a Tron game since the beginning of the year, but it’s now apparent that the game will be announced and shown at the Video Game Awards on December 12. The award ceremony, which will be broadcast on US TV station – Spike TV – will honour the best of the best whilst teasing upcoming games such as Halo: Reach.

The very brief teaser trailer seems to mimic the trailer for Tron: Legacy – sequel to the cult film, Tron. It is more than likely that Disney are wanting a video game to tie in with the 2010 sequel rather than the 1982 original. Of course, that is just me speculating but it would make sense, wouldn’t it?

Get on your bikes and enter the Game Grid.

  1. that looks awesome, despite the fact i dont have a clue what tron is and the trailer not giving me any clue either  - going to read up on it now

    • You don’t know what Tron is?! *Ginormic Gasp*

      It’s an absolute cassic. You’re a youngun aren’t you?
      :D

      • Agreed. Tron is a must see. ;)

      • lol yeh 1989 is my year so 7 years off! (accordin to wikipedia)
it looks really cool tho! may have to rent it! – blockbuster tho as my angels and demons on PSN is taking an eternity!

      • How can you not know what tron is. My year is 1992 and I played most tron games :P

      • Its usually on some rainy afternoon on itv3 on the weekend

    • Tron is what the cool kids were watching at the cinemas in 1982 when everyone else was being bored to tears by E.T. :)

      • I’m 30 in 4 weeks and despite loving films and owning almost 1,000 of them, have somehow never seen Tron or E.T.! Both are on my list of films I really need to watch soon!

      • lol as long as its better than ET – cant see the fuss with that movie

      • What???, E.T is an all time classic film, and its the only film that I has ever made me cry through my eyes.
Don’t worry too much about Tron though, it’s a rubbish film that only made it big because of the computer graphics.
The new 2010 film version/sequel/prequel, what ever it is, will be rubbish too, and that goes for the game too

      • lol where do you cry normally?

      • Surely its illegal to be aged 30+ and not have seen Tron?

      • It’s legal… and don’t call me Shirley :D

    • You don’t know what Tron is?

      Get out.

  2. Tron could potentially make a fantastic game seeing as most film elements consist of very game-like events. However, getting the style right would seal the deal (both visually and aurally).

  3. er what? . . . i . . i don’t . . . understand what just happened

    • Your brain just got melted by the awesomeness of Tron! :)

    • Tron happened.

  4. Ps3 will pwn

  5. I’m looking forward to this. I loved the old Tron arcade game from the 1980’s!!

  6. very brief indeed.

  7. I’m really looking forward to the new Tron film but at the same time I think it will never be as good as the original. As for the game I will reserve judgement till we get more info.

  8. I blinked and missed the whole trailer

    • Narcoleptic?

  9. Yes Yes Yes … Tron Rocks

  10. Tron was ACE when i was a kid, if i hear any more dissing, there’s gonna be repercussions…scrappy doo style!

  11. Duuuuuude, wtf?!  Tron 2.0 (PC) was the TRUE sequel to Tron in every sense.
I’m really glad that there is now a follow-up film, but a little saddened that people
have missed on the whole multi-media cross-platform omniscient that is Tron 2.0.

The Matrix failed to emulate this many years later with their various efforts!

  12. Tron. Tage.
    (Sorry)

    • Just awesome.

  13. TRON was awesome, a true classic. This movie is the reason I got ‘interested’ in computers.

The first time I heard the news about a sequel, I still actively played my PS2.

They were gonna make a new movie as well.

The PS2 game never arrived — only the PC game did.

The movie sequel was canned at the time as well. The game and movie had some very cool websites set-up http://www.tron20.net had a cool hacker-style theme… Those sites also quickly went offline never to be heard of again.

Until I read this news…. I’m curious if this is game is really gonna make it this time!

    • well disney are making the movie sequel so the game seems inevitable.
