Firstly, i love music as any other teenager does. I have the free verson of Spotify and am not that bothered with the adverts. They’re fairly short 20 secs or so and its easy to ignore them. I occasionally use Vidzone when im bord, its too much hassle just to play a song. If spotify came to PS3 i would deffo use it alot (aslong as its free).

In game Spotify would be brilliant, but they’d have to let people sign up again as they’ve closed it for invite only.
It’s a great system and would suit consoles really well.

An error in your post: (only on android and Iphone)

Spotify became available for Symbian S60 based phones (mostly Nokia smartphones, but a few other brands) very recently, less than a week ago I think.

You’ll need the premium version (still cheap though) and it has the same features as the other ones, with offline play beeing the most important one.

Please everyone subscribe so they make lots of money and stay in business. so that I (and you) can enjoy this service. People have been asking for a legal alternative to file sharing, this is it, now put your money where your mouth (or keyboard) is.

Spotify would be good if it can run in the background

If you have to sit there with your PS3 and your TV/Surround Sound switched on and can’t do anything else its a bit pointless, you may as well just have it running on your laptop, keeping your PS3/TV free.

I use Spofity all the time on my PC whilst working, I’m thinking of stepping up to premium so I can access from my iPhone, but Sky Songs it tempting me at the moment as you get given 10 free tracks every month in return for your £6.49 subscription, in addition to the unlimited streaming option that Spotify offers, if Sky Songs could get past Apple’s approval and appear on the iPhone it would be a no brainer

I still have not used Spotify myself. A lot of people seem to use it though so it would be great if they could bring it to the PS3. I will download the free version on my PC now to see what it is like

The only slowness with Vidzone for me is if I haven’t logged on for a while as it has to update it’s database. When I use it regularly it loads up a lot faster especially compared to how it was at launch.

you mean it’ll be free on some of the consoles but will require gold for the xbox.
an ad supported free version on ps3 would do me just fine.

I might try this out if it comes to the PS3, although I’m not sure how often I’d use it. I used Vidzone a lot when it first came out, but now that the novelty has worn off, I hardly ever use it any more.

Just read about Spotify. Seems the business model is failing and it needs to change. I’m guessing the people who pay for the subscription simply don’t number highly. Equally, indie artists are getting stung more than most (which can’t be good). Sorry, didn’t mean to turn this into a Spotify debate. It’ll be good to see what they can offer us gamers/console users.

The £9.99 a month gets you an ad free service, higher quality music stream (320kbps), the mobile version (currently only on Android and Iphone) with which you also can download up to 3000 tunes to your phone to listen to whilst out of signal range and the offline version on your pc (also allows you to listen to up to 3000 tunes without having to connect to the interent).

Oh right. That is a shame then. I don’t think I’ll be paying for it as I can cope with the Vidzone problems and although the db isn’t as large as Spotify’s it still does the job.

Even the free version of Spotify is excellent, I use it myself on my Netbook (my Netbook has an 8gb hardrive with 6gb free after the OS is installed, so I can’t exactly store music on it).

Is it just me or could Sony use this to get around MS’ background music patent thing? Assuming that exists and my memory isn’t faulty, Sony could have Spotify running in the background playing music, which is surely different enough from whatever MS’ patent says?

Oh well, yet another reason to keep my Gold sub up to date assuming it comes to the 360. Really, really hoping I won’t have to pay for premium on top of Gold just to use it. I don’t mind the ads on free, some of them are quite laughably bad.
