Ladies and Gentlemen we have a chance to make history. Derby City Council is naming two new stretches of the new inner ring road and is now allowing the public to vote on the final eight names. They are: John Flamsteed Way, Griffon Way, Merlin Way, Sorocold Way, Steve Bloomer Way, Eagle Way, Mercian Way and Lara Croft Way. Our buxom bosomed heroine has made the short list!

The name was suggested as Derby was the birthplace of the now defunct Core Design, creators of the orginal Tomb Raider. You can vote for your choice of road name here and I urge you to vote Lara. Tell you friends, tell your family and join the internet crusade to give pixellated bosoms their rightful place in history - between Osmaston Road and Burton Road and Burton Road to Stafford Street. VOTE LARA!

  I’ve just voted (vote panel is bottom right of the linked page as I couldn’t see it initially) and the results had me laughing out loud. The poor competition doesn’t stand a chance. Whoever at Derby County Council approved Lara Croft as an option must be now thinking “oh god, what have I done?”. :D

I’ve just seen the poll; It’s now 94% for Lara croft. Whoever put this idea through must be either laughing into his shirt sleeve or scared out of his wits.

They should’ve just proposed to call it “Lara Croft” rather than “Lara Croft Way”. I’m waiting on Sackboy avenue in Guildford.

I think ‘Lara Croft’-option in unison with an internet vote was a mistake.
