New Quantum Theory Trailer

Yesterday came the news that Tecmo’s PlayStation 3 exclusive was being made multi-platform and as such will obviously be appearing on the Xbox 360. I’ve been following this title since it was first announced at the Tokyo Game Show back in 2008, and was really looking forward to the Eastern influences on the traditionally Western genre.
The new trailer below shows quite a bit more gameplay than has previously been seen, and unfortunately for Quantum Theory (in my eyes at least) is looking more and more generic. Yesterday’s announced release period of Spring 2010 could also cause a few problems for the title because it puts it squarely in competition with God Of War III, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5 (?), Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2, Red Dead: Redemption, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction and many many more, will it get a look in?

To be honest, as awesome as this game looks, pitting it against the rest of the titles due around the same sort of time period, i really think it’s going to have to step things up a notch or two in order to match against the others.
Personally i would love to play this, but i think i’d rather first pick up a few of the other titles that are going to become available.

The only one’s that I can see not being there is GT5, which isn’t really scheduled for March over here anyway. God of War III I don’t see happening, FFXIII, Red Dead: Redemption, BF:BC2 and Splinter Cell have solid dates attached meaning it’s super unlikely, Alan Wake could go but I don’t think so any more and Bioshock 2 pretty much can’t be delayed of 2K will get slaughtered by shareholders.

I have to say that the graphical look of the game has put me off. I liked the idea of it when it was announced but to be honest it doesn’t look anything special, which is a shame really. :(
Dare I say it, with a game that looks like it’s trying to take on Gears of War shouldn’t it have a better USP and sublime graphics? (your not going to break into the market with any real staying power with only a generic copy)

When it was announced it looked fascinating, a different art style to the million shades of brown we usually get in third person shooters, I was excited by the possibilities of Eastern ideas in the genre… now I’m disappointed by how it looks… and it even looks like they’ve copied the stereotypical American gung-ho bullshit – A huge turn off!

There was some gameplay footage shown recently and the game looked really poor.
One of the enemies began running into a solid barrier and when he got there kept running. He then crouched next to cover instead of behind it, and then inevitably when he got shot, he skipped the standing up animation to become vertical so he could launch into the canned dying animation.
I really hope what I saw was a super early build, but I can’t shake the feeling that this will be a poor Gears rip off.

Wow, its Gears of War only bigger better and more baddass oh wait they already did that…
It does look pretty cool but I agree with Ryosuke. I cant see myself picking this up and taking time away from God of War 3 or GT5 or Splinter cell or Bioshock 2 to play it at all.

As said before, this is so much like gears of war. I dont really like gears of war.. so I hope this will be better, its looking better anyway.
