New Transformers Game Incoming

The last two Transformers games have pretty dire so the announcement of a new game may not seem exciting, but it is. The new game is not based on any current Transformers generation but more of a mash up of the original “Generation One” and some toned down ‘Movie’ designs. The game design also seems to take cues from the much celebrated “War Within” comic series. In other words, Soundwave is still blue and looks like Soundwave, just a bit spikier.

The game will be a ‘Gears of War’ inspired third person shooter with Autobot and Decepticon campaigns. You will be able to choose which bot you require for a mission much like the previous games but this time the other bots in your team will not stay in the base – they will be AI controlled characters assisting your mission. Weapons picks will be available and the game will feature both land and air based vehicles.  There will be an online multiplayer version and talk of a perks system similar to Modern Warfare.

This month’s game informer has a six page preview and shows the characters Ironhide, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave and Onslaught. Thanks to the Allspark forums for the heads up.
